Sheepish Sheeppie

When my OES turned up in the villiage, local sheep, especially lambs, thought they are sheep as well and followed them like leaders to the discontent of their owners. My pup tried to play with all animals around what meant jumping and barking, so the sheep soon found out the difference. When the flock was passing our gate the property should be guarded and the sheep learnt to rush passing our house to be on the safe side. One day I forgot to close the gate and my dogs jumped out to have some fun scaring the sheep away. Terrified sheep rushed down the narrow street. I called the dogs back and my obedient girl came back but her pup found himself in the middle of maddened flock without any back up. Local sheep are quite big and are taller then my dogs. He got scared !!! He pressed himself to the ground, tried to put what left of his tail between his legs and came back home running  Well, it has been some time since it happened and now the sheep wouldn't enter our road if they see him outside, but still, a sheep dog scared of sheep was quite a picture....

  yes but he was a baby, and those big nasty sheep scared him!
Sheep are also quite hard as my son found out this week, he was reading the water meter for a trough when a ram head butted him up the backside!, so your pup was just playing safe!
Lots of thanks for the speech for his defence :) But he was 18 months old at that time. The problem with him is that he has never been without his Mom as a back up. The sheep were scared as much as he was  I have another story how cows attacked us, it was really scary, I am about to "publish" it. OES have unusual looks which local animals don't recognise- this is the conclusion I have come to after all our "incidents" with them.
My first sheepdog loved to herd sheep, but the first time she encountered cattle, she learned not all animals can be bullied, especially a range savvy cow with calf! From then on she kept her distance from cattle but always growled at them......while standing behind us.

Yes, your boy has not had to think on his own. Friend has to Malmutes and the "boy" won't do anything without is mother. She's 10, he's 8.
