My guess would be that there's a smell in the room that they can't seem to "resist". I would wash the carpeting/floor with a odor enzyme solution.
Don't make a big deal out of Ollie's accidents - don't reprimand him or anything - he may get confused. Could your son be following in his footsteps seeking attention??? |
They both will walk away from playing with me to go pee in there, I think they are going to play with or get sissy whose room is farther down the hall. I go to check on them and find the new wet spot. I've tried the special cleaners and that helped all the other spots in the begining. Could Ollie be trying to mark my son as his by marking his room? |
I supposed he could be I'm not sure - it's been quite a while since I had a little boy in the house!
It's more likely an odor issue - try cleaning the area with vinegar/water and seeing if that helps. |
It's probably more of a "this smells like potty- it must be ok to go here" sort of thing for your puppy. Especially if this is the only spot in the house where it occurs. As for your son- monkey see, monkey do maybe? Little ones seem to pick up beahviors from everything around them. I don't have alot of experience with this. If it continues, you might try calling your vet and pediatrician for behavioral advice.

I am having deja vu on this post...LOL. We had the same thing going on with my son and Jack for a long time. We got Jack when Joey was almost 3, Joey had been potty trained since he was 22 months old, but was afraid to get up and go pee in the middle of the night so.......imagine my shock when I opened up a drawer that my almost 3 year old had been using as his own personal toilet! It only took 2-3 days to figure this out, but that was WAY to long. My son at that time was full of fun times as we finally figured out why the toilet bubbled when it flushed, was that he washed his hands in the toilet. We have since straightened our sweet boys ways of thinking, well and the fact that he is 4 1/2 now.
The only way we were able to stop the behavior was not to allow Jack to go in the room and if there was an accident from Joey or Jack to clean up the spot with an enzyme neutralizer, so that even the faintess trace of the urine can not be found. Good news is that when Jack turned almost a year old he stopped having the accidents and as Joey got older and with the help of a few well placed night lights he can now find the toilet on his own, and even reaches the sink to wash his hands. It does get better, hang in there. Good luck, stormi and co. |
I had to laugh reading this post. It does give you a great visual of the little boy and his dog. So far, my sweet little Beaureguard is doing pretty good with potty training. He has accidents, of course, but he responds well to praise and treats when he goes outside. He just had his vet appt. this past Tuesday and he's gained 6 lbs since I got him (Christmas). I can't believe how fast he's growing! |
It sounds like a Norman Rockwell painting....lol... |
