WOW!
I was excited that ours was down to 3.55! |
My friend reported 2.87 in her area!! |
oh... you aren't talking about the gas from our dogs. Gotcha.
we're well over $4 in the Atlanta area. I work from home, so have just stopped driving places. I haven't filled up in 2 weeks. I think the station at the corner is at $4.15. The lines from it went down past our house and stretched for over 2 blocks last week and the week before. |
1.26 litre here can't convert to gallon?? |

my car is diesel...the gas stations price today was $3.85 |
$2.79 not too far from my house. Our only bragging rights are that we always have the cheapest gas in the country. |
I thought you were talking about availability! We've been having a shortage ever since Ike went through the Gulf. We took the cars to a show on Saturday and had to stop at three stations before we found one with premium gas and were grateful to get it!
They're starting to get regular back in at most stations now, so there aren't lines any more like there were for several weeks. It's been bizarre! As for prices, it's still hovering around $4.00...a little less in some places, but again, you pay what they ask when you can find it. They're saying it will still be seveal weeks before things get back to normal. I'm glad to hear it's going down elsewhere though. That gives me hope! |
In Cincinnati, it was $3.36 this morning. |
ej wrote: 1.26 litre here can't convert to gallon??
there are roughly 4 liters to a gallon...so within 10% (give or take) she is paying roughly $ 5.04 a gallon....BUT you also have to take into account that that is euro dollars....SO, she is actually paying ROUGHLY close to $10.00 a gallon...... if my math is right, we so should not be complaining |
what kind of mileage does her car get? even ford markets a 56 mpg car in europe. |
I think it was something like $3.39 today... |
kerry wrote: You need to get out!!! prices in Atlanta are listed at around 3.50 or less on the internet - the highest prices are around what you mentioned. the internet is a lying bastard. All over town its hardly dropped below $4. I may not be driving, but my friends are. We carpool to stuff like dinners or dog training, and all over the metro area its well over $3.50, and a good deal of stations don't even have gasoline. NO ONE has any grade higher than regular either. We're told that this week we should start seeing mid- and premium grades returning. |
here's an article from our local paper, the Atlanta Journal Constitution, dated today, October 6th:
http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/busine ... rtage.html Quote: "Monday morning pegged the (Atlanta) metro average for regular at $3.93, down from $4.08 one week ago." |
I told James, once it's under $3.50, it'll be like free again! I'm perfectly happy to pay $3.18. Cheaper is always better but no complaints from me at this range. |

My theory is that ^^^^^^^^ was big oil's plan all along. |
We live in a capitalist society, so I can only get so upset about someone trying to make money. They have something I want, I pay for it. It's the way life works. If they can make it better for me, great, if not, I just try to roll with it. I don't consider gas an inalienable right so, though annoying, it's not worth picketing or rioting over! |
It's not about what type of society we have or whether gas is an inalienable right. It's about sales and marketing and consumer confidence....how can we triple our revenue and make people happy to pay for it? Well, by quintupling our prices then dropping them back to triple what the are now, that's how! |
I'll pay for a commodity, but I don't want to be price gouged. There's a difference in an "inalienable right" and in being taken advantage of.
I work form home and live across the street from a train station. So if I'm careful, gas can be a commodity for me. But for many its a necessity. I really wish I could take my dogs on the train; when I drive somewhere, its usually because I want to take the dogs with me.... |

Oh, that wasn't a direct reply to your post, just more of my rambling. I agree with you, it's an excellent tactic to make the public like you again! I don't know, I don't consider a lousy economy to be a civil emergency so I'd not consider higher gas prices to be gouging. It would be another story if you were say, in Galveston and gas was $12 a gallon because it was in such high demand. I think price gouging is a term that gets tossed around an awful lot when people are frustrated and just don't want to pay more for things! (Not directed at you Allison, just in general). It is annoying and frustrating to have to pay more but I don't think it's being taken advantage of. I think there's pretty specialized circumstances where I feel like that would apply. But, that, of course, is just my opinion. I think mostly I've come to terms with high gas prices so easily is because not a SINGLE day goes by without someone either on the news or at work droning on and on about it. I'm sick of all the complaining so I decided to make myself happy with it and not jump on that complain train, lol. |
DARCY: I'm in Canada Canadian dollars. If it was $10.00 I would be walking. |
$3.29 and falling. |

It was 3.08 at the local grocery store tonight. I was shocked LOL thats the lowest its been in awhile. |
Ours was $3.09 this morning. I talked to LeAnne tonight and up by her house on the north side of the Twin Cities it is $2.97.
I have to gas up tomorrow, so I'm hoping for a low number. |
$3.53 today. |
I paid $3.51 on Sunday, dan paid $3.37 yesterday. I think its coming down nd we have a wide variety of prices. I'll need to fill up again tomorrow - who knows what I will pay |
We pay about $9.50 a gallon in the UK for diesel petrol is slightly less. |
We're at 1.10 a liter (about 4.16 a gallon) and I'm annoyed that I thought, wow that's cheap! |
Vicki & George wrote: We pay about $9.50 a gallon in the UK for diesel petrol is slightly less.
im sorry that you pay that much....but im extremely impressed with myself for figuring out the exchange...although, if it were the price is right...id be over |
I paid $3.39 at Race Trac in Melbourne Fl this morning. I heard a rumor that you could buy gas in Orlando for $3.20 a gallon. |
violet wrote: I paid $3.39 at Race Trac in Melbourne Fl this morning. I heard a rumor that you could buy gas in Orlando for $3.20 a gallon.
My daughter just called and complained it was still over $3.50 in Daytona. |
I just filled up with reg for 3.25 |
I just paid 2.99 a gallon at Giant. WOOHOO> I had earned enough pointsto get 10 cents off every gallon YAY. |
Our gas is down to 1.23 (Can) per litre to day! |
Ours is somewhat steadily falling, today it is 3.52, we just hope it keeps falling. Why does it go down so slowly, but when it goes up, it jumps super fast? |
I saw $3.92 and $3.97 today. |
Paid $2.95 a gallon today. |
VerveUp wrote: Paid $2.95 a gallon today.
Pretty good I was worried. Prices were $3.09 yesterday, but when I drove into town for work this morning they were $3.15. Amazingly, they were all back to $3.09 again when I left work. So, after my gas coupon, I paid $3.04. It turned out OK. |
I live in Germany and I filled up yesterday paying 1,44 € per litre that is about 8,00 $ per gallon. When the raw oil went up in price the petrol followed now that it has went down to about 100 $ a barrel we have see very little price fall and it is not in the goverments interest as they make a fortune on the taxes. Oh by the way the gas companies are in a bad way at the moment, Exxon only made 11.3 billon profit 2nd quarter this year with BP making 9.8 billion and shell with 7.8 billion PROFIT. I suppose the money will be needed to help McCain win the elections next month. |

$2.77 a gal |
I think it was $3.99 on Monday |
I'm so glad we didn't move to palatine. Life is so much cheaper down south
....although I am missing out on a lot of fun with sheepie folks. |
We are right at $3.79 a gallon. My husband said he heard on the news today that NC was the highest state of all. It's really depressing but you gotta have gas to go to work and money to buy the gas so it's a never ending cycle. Oh geez!! |
Dropped again today to 3.38!!!!! |
2.94 here today!! |
Just paid $2.64. |
paid 1.00 /litre last night |
I paid $3.29 last night. I am amazed at the variation across the country! |
Just paid $3.76 a gallon this morning I'm so happy the price has come down. |
I had posted $3.09 a couple days ago. It was down to $2.85 last night when I came home from classes. Too bad my tank is still 1/2 full! |
We are sitting at 2.72 here today. I'm really hoping it comes down even more. With the economy, I'd think it'll have to. |
2.92 today
so if oil goes through the floor ...will an Obama Administration bailout big oil? hmmm... seem fair to me. If you're willing to take with a windfall profits tax, you should be willing to prop up in bad times. |

If you're willing to take with a windfall profits tax, you should be willing to prop up in bad times. Well sure, let's define "bad times" for Big Oil. When was the last time they didn't make a profit? Oil Watchdog When do you predict there won't be a market for oil? I don't think that's a likely issue to "hmmmm" about, IMO. |
Quote: When do you predict there won't be a market for oil?
there will always be a market for oil. ...just like there will always be a market for lumber, airfare, banking, automobiles, military equip, rice, cotton, gold, etc I'm confused to what that has to do w/anything? |

I just believe that there's not likely to be a "bottom out" of the oil industry. Even when oil was much less expensive, they were turning a profit. Not "record" profits as in the last couple of years, but a profit nonetheless. |
2.65 today at Randall's! Holy cow, that's awesome. |
Beat ya - ours was $2.47 this afternoon!!
I filled up, as I am doing a basset hound transport tomorrow. He is a 4 yr old going from his foster home to his forever home! |
$2.43 today in town here. Northeast Ohio. And of course I am riding on a full tank right now |
$2.72 today in Boston. This is the cheapest gas station in the area! |
Ours is still in the 2.90's , which seems pretty good. We'll keep hoping for lower. We are in the Hagerstown area of MD.
My sister & I were in Lancaster, PA last weekend and found gas for 2.72. |

I guess I can't beat ya even though I saw 2.51 today (tells you how early I've been up cooking if I've already went to the store and it's 4 a.m.) |
I was excited to pay only $2.99 a gallon yesterday, baa humbug after I saw the prices all of you are paying. I hope it "trinkles down" here soon.
I "hit" my 3,000 post with this posting. woo hoo! |
$2.90, in Sayre, PA. |
1.69 ...never did I think we'd see these prices again!!!
Although since mr. j is in the oil business, I shouldn't want prices to go down too much further. |

Although since mr. j is in the oil business, I shouldn't want prices to go down too much further. ahh where you stand does indeed depend on where you sit |
$1.92!! |
2.25 at our local station, but then it's for sale so they are probably trying to show increased business for sale purposes. Hope it doesn't close, next one is 5 miles away. |
Ours was $2.49 last time I got gas...may be a little lower today. This is in the Los Angeles area. I am jealous of you paying under $2.00. |
wendy58 wrote: Ours was $2.49 last time I got gas...may be a little lower today. This is in the Los Angeles area. I am jealous of you paying under $2.00.
$2.49 is cheap here in upstate new york. |
I am not complaining...$2.49 is good...every savings is good! |
gas at $2.21 getting better. Disney is also offering 7 day package for the price of 4 days if anyone is interested. |
$1.92 at Swifty and they PUMP IT!!! |
$2.12 as of yesterday in my neck of the woods! |
$2.05 here, and up in the Twin Cities by LeAnne's apt it was $1.93 this weekend. |
and I thought $2.12 was a bargain...haha....well at least my wallet is happy....dogs are too....more "bye bye" rides in the SUV with them!! |
I'ts a 1.82 where I'm at just east of Dallas Tx. |
I saw $2.05 at several stations yesterday! |
$1.77 here today. |
I'm so encouraged!! I honestly NEVER thought it would be this low again. The best I've seen around here so far was $2.03 today. But, it drops nearly every day now. What a HUGE relief and just in time for holiday travel and spending. |
Last night i filled up in St Louis MO at 1.89!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
1.73 today... |
We seem to be stuck at 2.23 but, I ain't complaining! |
I almost paid $4.99 for diesel a few months ago, wound up paying $4.79 on the way home. The 400 mile trip required about 40 gallons.
Now I saw it for $3.09 and I see it as low as $2.77 in my area (though not "on the way" to anywhere for me). $2 a gallon savings would make the trip cost $120 instead of $200; an $80 savings just on a trip to visit my sister just 200 miles away. Amazing. On our "big trip" we averaged about $1.40 for diesel, and consumed about 3,250 gallons; We also used about 750 gallons of gasoline for a total of around $6,000. At the peak, the cost would probably have been about triple and likely would have put a serious dent into our plans. I don't know if it was posted before in this thread, but have you tried this site? http://autos.msn.com/everyday/gasstationsbeta.aspx |
$2.69 a gallon here, today. Which is WONDERFUL considering a mnth ago it was $3.59! |
1.17 here in spring, tx!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...and the manager at that gas station said it's going DOWN today because the street they're on is too competitive. I'm starting to worry about the stability of mr. j's job since he's in the oil business. good for most of y'all ...but not good for us. |
We are still at $1.53, if that helps. |
1.47 here in maryland I am doing a lot more rescue transports now. |
$1.55 here in northeast Ohio |
last Saturday.... paid $1.86 here in NY |
down to $1.76 in the cheap Mobile near Albany, $1.85 near home. |
You all are going to hate this post. It's a $1.52 a gallon here in Evergreen. Denver is even cheaper. Got gas yesterday, $22.00 to fill up my truck. |
$1.56 Palm Bay FL |
