I'm so sorry about Belle. All of our lovies are getting older...its hard to deal with the thought of losing, let alone, their actual passing. Belle is running, and happy and shining like a brand new penny now. |
Oh...Cindy...I am so sorry...I know how hard it is..My thoughts and prayers are with you... |
I am sorry to hear about your Belle. She sounds like she was a fun mare.
Had she been ill (or injured) long?? |
The monday before last we switched Belle to her winter turn out ( the horses well horse are in at daylight when hot out, and graze at night ,when the weather is cooler they stay in at night and graze at day) she was off her feed the next morning did not want her grain or hay , I turned her out and she grazed It just progressed . Our vet said he had seen a lot of colic due to the schedule change and we had treated her here for a few days she did not improve and he came out and oiled her and gave her fluids and muscle relaxers by injection two days later worse vet back out blood work drawn IV fluids and Epsom's salt and h2o by tube. No manure loosing weight, Again the vet was called more tube fluids. This was we thought an impaction colic but no manure (won't go into the physical exams done ) He felt it may be a tumor further up Now he thinks a cancer of some sort She got so thin and would not eat or drink. This went on for 10 days with no improvement or hope of recovery. She was not a surgical candidate. Poor Donkey was calling to her as we led her into the other field and she was calling back. Putting a horse down with a stable mate calling is the hardest thing I have ever done. When we had sugar put down Belle was calling to her. I am just so bumed right now I don't even know what to do. I don't even want a drink and that is pretty bad........... |
Cindy, I'm so sorry. Losing a horse is the hardest thing, but thank you for letting Belle go. I know you don't want any horses, but maybe there is a horse out there who needs a loving retirement home. Or how about a companion goat for the mini donk?????
Take care of yourself. Have a drink. Give the donk a hug and a carrot. I hope your heart stops hurting soon. |
I'm so sorry. |
Thank you all for your kind thoughts. Paula, we tried goats when sugar went (to keep Belle company) they slipped under the fence and pooped EVERYWHERE!!! |
again - so sorry for what you are going through. I can't begin to imagine the year you have had. be strong.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your beautiful Belle. Your story is so sad.
Tears, |
Oh Cindy
I am so sorry... You have had an awful year. We are here if you need anything. |
I'm so sorry for your loss. Belle sounds like she was a lovely and fun mare. But now she's running healthy and pain free at the bridge. My thoughts are with you. |
Oh that is so sad. I know you will miss Belle for sometime. She was still pretty young, but an illness is an illness. As for the donkey, any chance of another mini? Folks down the road have three now.......the baby was absolutely adorable!! Maybe you could board a horse for awhile.....or is that a hassle? |
I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved horse |
Cindy,
I am very sorry for your loss. |
I'm so sorry for the loss of Belle and my heart goes out to her little donkey friend too. Hugs from me and may Belle and Sugar together again be running free at the bridge. |
I'm so sorry, Cindy. |
I am so sorry for the pain you are suffering. Know that we are here and are grieving with you. |
That is so so sad. Poor donkey missing her friend. That would have broken my heart if they were calling to each other. You need to take care of yourself, wish there was something we could do or say to help ease your pain.
RIP Belle run like the wind darling. |
Every one's kind words help one to heal but it will be a long time coming I have actually thought of selling "Crazy Acres' our farm. |

Oh Cindy - take some time. I know how much you love the farm. Please don't do anything rash. Plant a nice tree for Belle (somewhere away from any potential trucks!) and remember how much she loved the place. There are so many horses looking for good homes these days. (hint hint) On another note I was thinking about you this weekend and had a Gin and Tonic - don't think it will be among my favorite drinks, but not bad. If you need to talk call me. |
I am so sorry for your loss - you really have had a bad time. I thinking of you, hang in there |
I'm sorry for your loss. Doesn't have to be a sheepie to be loved so. But not surprising such a great amount of love from a sheepie lover household. |
so very sorry for your loss |
