http://regina.kijiji.ca/c-pets-dogs-pup ... dZ67949564 poor girl that's not too far from me. My DH isn't too keen on getting an older dog, he's afraid they would come with too many problems... |

This one is 3 yrs old. |
oh I know, I shouldn't have used the word 'older', that's still young
he's worried about getting a dog that someone else has owned. Thing is she would be potty trained |
Tell him not to worry!!
3 of our 7 are "pre-owned" and totally bonded with us. There are huge advantages to getting a dog that is grown up. If she seems like a dog you are interested in, at least call and go meet her. |
Jeez... they want to rid of this dog to breed better dogs, yet I've got a feeling none of their other dogs are up to par either. I wonder what their standard is for "a good dog to breed." I also would wonder if they select their dog by breeding them and just seeing if they turn out w/o visible defects. Something doesn't sit right for me. I wouldn't get it from this person no matter how cute the dog was, and I wouldn't consider this a "rescue" topic from the info given. I hope I'm wrong about this breeder. |
I know. It's a over a six hour drive away, so how would I make that decision to meet in the first place? I did email the owner, maybe the dog found a new home already. You just never know what issues a dog is going to come with, ya know? But I guess everything can be worked out. |

I know, it doesn't sound good to me either. But then what happens to the poor dog that they don't want? |

he's worried about getting a dog that someone else has owned. My good Patch is a castaway and couldn't be a sweeter or smarter dog - I do not think I could pay any amount of money and get a better or nicer OES than Patch. A "preowned" OES could be the love of your life. |

Oh Jo you are so right. What is wrong with people. This makes me sick. This is so sad. |

call me naive, but what do you mean? Why wouldn't this dog be considered a rescue? |

Why wouldn't this dog be considered a rescue? Because they wanted the dog to breed , probably for money (OES aren't cheap you know ), and are dumping her because she can't deliver (oops - bad pun) AND, they still want to get money for her. If they were altruistic, they would be looking to place her in a good home. I am willing to bet they got 2 dogs (or more)and are hoping to get rich from them. A perfect example of why health testing is done by "real" breeders. I bet they didn't before they bred their 2 "purebred, registered" dogs..... Anyway, I'm not saying she would be a bad dog or you shouldn't get her. Just that those kind of people..... |
And if they wish to simply rehome the dog because it isn't suitable breeding material, then why charge for it?
Seems a bit like hard business to me. |
