you can check the local kennel and breed club websites. we had Beowulf in a fun match this weekend for the local breed club. my kennel club also had one this weekend for all breeds. |
You can look on http://www.infodog.com. Some of the shows do have matches. I'm not sure if you can show a puppy in a match under the age of 6 months unless it's a specialty. I'm sure your breeder can let you know what is in your area too. |

There's so many darn codes on Infodog. Marilyn definitely said she'd let me know if she heard of any but I figured if I could look on my own, too. That way I wouldn't have to be annoying and ask so many questions! |
AB & AC is all you need to look for! (unless you'll be doing agility, rally, obedience...)
We'll be putting an OES 'shows & event's' calendar up on the OESCA site soon too. Also, wherever you are taking handling classes, most likely holds matches too. |
Call Carol at Canine Workshop or ask whoever answers the phone, they would probably know. |

Good thinking, Holly. They'd definitely know. |

You can show in fun matches usually at three months. wee saw some very young newfie pups at a fun match sunday and one of the youngest won best puppy! |
There just don't seem to be as many fun matches these days........I remember showing in them often as I was growing up! (OK, that was ancient history.. )
Check with some of the kennel clubs - they sometimes do fun matches as some of the avtivities that AKC requires them to do. Try and talk your handling class into doing one too! Even informally, it would be good paractice for you both. There must be others out there with pups who want one too. |
The Wisconsin club (not that this helps you) has been talking about putting a match on. I'm thinking of offering to do an OES obedience/rally fun match next spring because we have more people in the area interested than we used to. If some of the others in the club feel inspired maybe we'll include conformation. It sort of goes by local interest and having people who will do the work.
Sometimes it takes people asking so they know there's some interest. Offering to help put one on is always a good thing too, though generally easier to do after you've attended at least one. You might want to ask the Western Reserve club if they're planning any such thing and, if not, why not? There are a number of MI members. Dawn, you're right, the number of matches does seem to be steadily shrinking. It's a lot of work and takes some dedicated volunteers. Jill, I doubt his breeders will be put out no matter how many questions you ask. This is how breeders keep tabs that you are on the right track and not, say, doing weird things like coloring his whites purple or..? Kristine |

Kristine He won't show for real for six months. That's plenty of time for the purple to wash out... |
