Recently a trainer told me that the difference between the title trainer and behaviorist is the degree level. A behaviorist has a master's degree. Is this true? Is a degree required for a trainer? Enquiring Minds want to know |

nope. but I have heard (from a national behaviorist) that the only true behaviorists - and she didn't include herself in this - have PhD's.
Comfortably I think you can use the professional association memberships as a test - IAABC (behaviorists) vs APDT (trainers) is one example. |

Thanks for the information! I went to the site and as usual, Utah is behind the eight ball. Not a single listing. |
Believe it or not I found mine in NY by calling someone in VA and getting a referral. the website might not be up to date so you could try that approach. I really recommend finding the right person by getting referrals and interviewing them - sit in on a class do a private session. do not fall for awards or certifications alone! |
