Waiting for our new arrival...

I had no idea where to post this... but I thought many of you would understand what I'm going through right now... The wonderful people with Tarheel Rescue approved us to adopt Roxie (she's been featured as an available rescue for a bit). Bernie and Cosmo met Tammy (her foster mom) and her furry friends today, and now the new addition to our family is on the way home... They are probably just over an hour away now... but sitting here waiting is next to impossible! I am so excited.

From early reports from the road, the two have already bonded and are snuggling happily together...

I just can't wait until they get home!!!

:ghug:
Woohoo! I'll bet you can't wait!
Hi everyone... Roxie is here now and getting adjusted to her new home. She is a very loving and affectionate little girl (and she is little - very small compared to our still growing Cosmo!). She and Cosmo are still adjusting to the change, but it's going pretty smoothly. When it's time to sleep, they snuggle together... when they ride in the Tahoe - they snuggle together... Roxie spent Friday at work with us while Cosmo went to Doggie Daycare. She was excellent! We'll post pictures soon...
Congratulations!
It sounds like a great match :D
Glad to hear everything is going well. :D
That is great, and of course can't wait to see the pictures!! :D
YIPPPPEEEE!!!
So glad Roxie is home!
Sounds like Cosmo and Roxie
were meant to be together! :hearts:
Natalie, I'm so happy to know that things are going well with Roxie and Cosmo. I was sure they'd be a good match and it sounds like they are peas in a pod. :D Please post photos when you can. I'm just so thrilled she's with "forum family" so I can keep up with her. :D
We're still in the adjustment phase, but I can tell you all that there are two sheepines who spend their sleeping time snuggled together! Since Roxie isn't perfectly housebroken, Cosmo seems to signal when she needs to go. It's weird, but that seems to be what is happening. If anyone out there can advise on how to teach an adult (approx 4 years old) OES to signal when they need to go potty, I'd love any pointers! For the most part, she's not having accidents, but it's Cosmo telling us to let her out.

They love to go for rides together! Cosmo's two-legged friends at Daycare have been asking when she'll join him. She goes with him and drops him off, then back to pick him up. So the place and people are getting familiar to her. When she's at work with us, she's great, she'll get some TLC, then nap. Then more TLC, then more napping. Throw in some walks and some treats, and she is a happy girl.

We need a little more work on sleeping routine adjustment. Roxie is a crate girl, Cosmo is used to spending a little time on the bed followed by curling up on the bathroom floor. When one wakes, the other wakes... we need to find a way that they both sleep so that their humans get to sleep also!! 8O

Roxie had her first bath today, she and Cosmo decided it'd be fun to do it together. Bernie put her in, and Cosmo decided to hop right in too... can you imagine how much space there wasn't in a standard size tub? Basically one got washed with the left hand, one got washed with the right hand... bottom line, a wet daddy later... they are both clean and shiny!!!

I promise, pictures soon...
I can't wait to see pictures!
How funny! There is always and adjustment period when you bring a new dog into the house, but it sounds like you're working through it just fine. You'll figure out what works best for both of them and you soon.

I do think Roxie's house training issues stem from her having been in the shelter for several months. She unlearned whatever she knew about giving a signal to go out. It's going to take some time to teach her how to do it. For now, it sounds like Cosmo is doing a great job of looking out for his new big sister. :D

Here's a picture of Roxie and Cosmo together. When we get some more, we'll be sure to post them!!
:D They look like a happy couple! Cosmo looks very important and Roxie seems to be looking up to him! 8)
Oh!!! What a cute couple..You can tell from the picture Cosmo knows he has a friend for life!!!! What a very very happy ending!!! I am so excited for all of you!!! Especially Cosmo!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D
That is a great picture!!! :D :D

Roxie just had her first day at Doggie day camp along with Cosmo, everybody loved her and she had a great time by all accounts. Its funny to watch both of them go in there, the floors in the store are very slippery on the paws and watching their little paws and legs go at about 100mph to get in to see all their friends is something to behold.

Will keep more posts and Pics coming.....
I just read this thread for the first time. So, first of all Congratulations on your new addition. Also, OMG it sounds way too adorable how nicely they are getting along together! I'm so happy for your growing Sheepie family; happy for Cosme who seems to have found a dear friend, and happy for Roxie who is settling into a loving home with a Sheepie pal of her very own!
They are sooo wonderful!
After that crazy trek to SC you all deserve this gal! :clappurple:
Looking good, Natalie! I had no qualms whatsoever about Roxie going to daycare. She's such a social girl. She just loves to play! I'm so glad it's working out well. :D
I am so happy for you and your new arrival. I dont know how I missed this before. After the SC thing you deserve a break. They look so happy together.

As for the signaling to go out. Try hanging some bells on the door knob. When you let them out ring the bell. Use her nose to ring it if you can. I know that sounds funny but she may make the connection and learn to ring the bell when she needs out.
