My ears are almost starting to hurt from it. No, I'm not crazy...yes, there is really a cricket in here. I just read that may be a sign of good fortune coming my way. I hope so. What do y'all think? (And no, his name is not Jimeny. Everyone in the building has already asked me that!) |

Wow that would be great if that was good luck I would go outside and pick one up and bring him in - no maybe not i would have to touch him them |
That's why the Chinese keep them as pets. But I think it would be luckier, to have a cricket pick you, than for you to pick a cricket and capture him. |
I feel your pain.......the smoke alarm battery is failing and chirping. I don't have a replacement. Cricket is worse, but this is a close second. Must be getting near the end, it's chirping more often now. Right outside my door. |
Aw, Deb, you are lucky!! Crickets are good luck when they chose you.
One chooses to chirp outside the window at night when we're trying to watch TV. It is annoying. I have to agree. Why don't you just find him and shoo him out? |
all i can say is that its better than a ghost |
I've had crickets and I've had ghosts. I think I prefer ghosts. As the afternoon wore on, his chirp got softer. I hope he was finding his way out, and not that he was dying. I suspect when I get back to work tomorrow, he will be gone. I hope it was his choice to leave. I'll actually sort of miss him. I've seen brass crickets in stores... think I'll find one and bring it to my office. I think maybe he was a ghost. My ex-husband (the father of my children) died two years ago today. I still miss bickering with him..and loving him at the same time. Reincarnation?????? |

I believe as you do....he was letting you all know that he is okay. |
We have a toad that shows up periodically in the yard. He initially appeared on the day my father-in-law died. He has been around lately and I have been telling the girls it's Grandpa. My husband still misses his dad, and is always tickled by that toad. It's probably not the same one as it has been 8 years...don't know how long toads live anyway. As long as he is outside. |
Good morning. He didn't leave. He's back. And I think he has a friend now, since I can hear two distinctly different chirps. Good grief................... |
So much for overnight housekeeping. No way they'd vacuum behind the file cabinets anyway. Since the chirping is a mating sound, I guess having two there now isn't a surprise.
I got the batteries, I'm quiet again. Sorry you are not. |
I always hear crickets when I'm telling jokes in front of large audiences. |
