Wedding Related (nothing dog)

I'm so excited I had to share it with my e-friends. :D

I got my hair trial done today for my wedding. So here's what I hope to have done to my hair on the "big day." What do you think? :)

I still haven't gotten a wedding dress, and it's in May!!!!!

I just have to get fit and start running more often. hehe

It looks good to me, but then again I also like Sinead O'Connor's, Grace Jone's and Phyllis Diller's hairdos...

What about a crew-cut?
OH! It's so lovely!! I had mine back and down... I suppose I could post a pic or two. But no dress yet? Girlie- get on it! Not to scare you, but my bridesmaids dresses took 6 months to arrive... Of course, my gown only took 1 month. And alts will take a while too. Are you between a couple of styles? Or have you just not found the right one yet? Do you know what your after? Oh and what kind of veil/headpiece are you getting, if any?

I can't help myself! Even 5 months after mine, I love hearing wedding planning details! Gimme gimme- flowers? colors? inside, outside?

PS- the fuzzies are adorale too!

Karen :)
Ron, you always have the best witty remarks though knowing you thought Sinead O' Connor's hairdo was happening, I should be worried. ;)

Iriskmj, yes!!! If you can get ahold some pics, post them. that would be so much fun to see. :) I'm such a bridezilla right now.. I mean... uh..
My hair stylist told me the same thing (dress taking 6 months to alter/get ready). I never knew!!!! I am so screwed. lol I need to get on it. :)
Oh, you want details? *laughing hysterically*

I got my hair done. That's as far as I've gotten as details. lol I know I'm so bad. I haven't even ordered invites. *evil grin*

We do have a reception place (officer's club on base), photographer, and bridal party. No church...no nothing. *tongue*
Need help? I'm really good at planning! Of course- that's probably also what your siblings, parents, inlaws, and extended realtives are saying too!

Hehehehe...

I'll post a few pics when I get back home this pm.

PM me if you want/need anything. I'm happy to give you any help/advice. I know what it's like!

Karen :)
thanks! I'd like it all to be over with. I hate the fact I'm going to be center of attn (with my soon-to-be husband). Feels funny to have all eyes on me. I'd like to be standing at the front of the church before everyone gets there. If you knew me... then you know "I'm" the one pegged to fall on their face. hehe
Is putting up your hair anything like putting up a dog? I mean, you just sort of drop it off and pick it back up in a few days? And what about putting up a can of peaches?

Seriously though, re-reading my previous post, it might have been taken as insensitive, and it was. I know from first-hand experience that planning a wedding can be extremely stressful .. Joan had a hard time while I was ignoring everything.

Planning on showing up was just as stressful tho, no?
lol ....nah, not at all. I love people who can dish out and RECEIVE sarcasm and realize how it was meant. :D

If you knew the town I live in... finding a hair stylist is no easy task! I paid so much going from salon to salon to............. salon. ending up finding a place an hour away in Austin (travels for fairly cheap). I'm just so relieved.

Now I have no idea how I'll put a tiara or veil on. when will it all end!!! *stress*
Ack, big weddings! LOL I kept my wedding small, didn't even want to invite family really, but we did. Just family, no friends, because one turns into two, and so on, and then you always have a bunch that want to know why they weren't chosen. So, we just decided no one was best.
We only had about 30 people, immediate family only. I've helped plan a few others, been a bridesmaid in one and a maid of honor in another. Hated them both, threw out the ugly dresses. Never do it again. LOL
Willowsprite you have the right idea. I just about have my bf convinced that Vegas would be a great idea. Just the 2 of us. LOL
I'm also trying to convince him i dont want an engagement/wedding ring just an engagement OES. hes not falling for it
Good luck with your wedding every thing will be fine. think positive :D
Weddings are stress my mother in law had done the alterations on my sisters gown for me and it had a stain that could not come out!!!! We went shopping me mom and my mom in law and my mom said after I found the dress we want this one, and the girl said oh that will take weeks this was April the wedding was in May. My Mom said again this is the dress the one I am holding!!!! LOL It all works out and getting married is what counts the wedding is for the guests so our moms planned it and we oked it, my family and in laws were friends for years before the wedding that helped too. Think ahead to the honeymoon. Good Luck!
Shaggy- I have to say, my wedding was for me!!! But then, I'm a plan- a-holic (after all, what sort of person starts researching dog breeds a full year before there's any chance of getting one?) Every detail was what I had decided on-(after a few tears, and wanting to strangle various family members on both sides) I spent literally hundreds of hours on planning, and I loved the end result. Everything was as perfect as it possibly could have been :) Happy sigh.

In the end- If your memory of the day makes you happy, I think that's what counts.

Karen :)
The food was a large variety so everyone could find something they liked. I remember my wedding day too and it was 30 years ago. We hired and picked out everything too. Our actual ceremony was traditional and we hired a singer from Radio City in NY. all in candle light. Now looking back we did a lot of work. How about the mother of the groom that will be me in a year or so? This is certainly a nice topic even if it is non dog memories are something we will always have. When we wanted a dog it was my husband who loved sheepie dogs and that is how I got to love this breed. I got the sheepies in here, LOL
I recommend going with the 6 foot sub sandwich
Your hair looks beautiful! Good Luck with the plans of your Big Day! That's such an exciting thing to look forward to! I hope your dreams come true!!! :D

First of All..............Congrats!!!!!! Wedding are awesome. We had a huge wedding and wouldnt take that back for anything!! Your hair look beautiful!! My advice...... Its you and your husbands to be special day. Remember that. Two things I recommend going all out on would be the Photographer and DJ. A good DJ will make your reception awesome!!

May all your biggest dreams be the least that you get in your marriage
Hey you don't need 6 mths to get the stuff, I planned a wedding for 400 people in 3 mths, but mine was in March. I found all the stuff in a week and started getting the girls fitted, the guys in for tux rentals (tails). Hired a Limo, booked a hall. I tend to be very organized tho. Little details I spread them out, but the big stuff I got done immediately. I started November 1st, and our day was March 7th.

If you've got budget problems, like I did, I went to a used bridal shop, and found a dress that fit perfectly, it needed no alterations, and it had long sleeves for winter. It wasn't my perfect dress, but I had a budget of $300 for this dress, and I found one for $250, including the crinoline, and the dress was mine to keep. My flowers came from a brand new shop...next to where I worked..they were looking for its first bridal booking, so I got the most awesome service, and a great price. My girls held lg boquets of daisies, and I had yellow roses, lg white tulips, and daisies. We hired a retired photographer friend(was professional) to take our pictures, he only charged us for equip rental, and processing, we got great pictures.

The limo was my husbands idea, and we loved it, its nice to keep the whole party together. We hired an awesome DJ recommended to us, and had a cash bar. The supper we had a potluck, we had 1 couple oversea the whole thing, and we bought all the groceries, had it spread out and everyone was happy to help. I think we bought 14+turkeys, 3 ham, I got a great deal at Christmas on the meat. I did my share of cooking to, even the night before I was still making perogies. We had 300 approx for the supper, and 400 approx came for the dance. It was perfect. I hate weddings, but I loved mine, we never went into debt over it. It was in the off season, which makes it alot easier to get bookings done.

Make sure if you wear a veil, it is secure, because so many people will tug it when they hug you and your hair will be pulled. By the way it looks great. At Valentines, I bought all the choc hugs and kisses on sale, and made them our favors. So if you see a sale, start stocking up.

If you have it catered, an alternative is hiring the culinary students at your local University or college...they need the practice, and it is alot cheaper than professional...friends of our did that for there wedding. We made a priority list, limo, flowers, lg wedding...priority....wedding cake, bridal party gifts, flowers for family/decorating, balloons, streamers etc, alcohol...not important. We compromised...alcohol yes..they pay small price for it, we'd decorate but keep it very simple...it is a party after all.

Looking for more advice, it is your first day as being married...it is a celebration of love and committment. Not something that you want to haunt you for years to come...debt is not something you need to start a future together. Keep in a budget, and if you have sacrifice one thing for another to do it. I look back with a lot fond memories, and because we didn't go into a big debt, we manage to get a house in less than 2 years, started a family, bought all new furniture...we made a home, and built on our future. This March we will make 7 years.

Best wishes to you, as you plan...it will be stressful...delegate tasks. Keep control, so it remains an expression of you and your new husband...not your sisters, friends, mother..or inlaws place to take over and create their opinion of what this day should be. :)
