Yesterday both the puppers were so naughty at training and the wind was blowing strong. Been good other weeks, just two little monsters playing up and being silly and all frisky as the wind whipped up. I excused myself from class, babette was horrible, disruptive to the others and so silly, David continued with Syd as he is Food motivated and that gets his brain sort of working but I sat out half the class with Psycho girl yesterday as we did not have a hope in hell of doing anything constructive in class Anyone ever notice this, a gusty strong windy day and mental dogs or am I just imagining the wind plays havoc with their brains |

YES!!!
But I feel the same way, so I forgive them. Speaking as someone who is pretty longhaired herself, I suspect it's the feel of the wind whipping through their hair that makes them feel a little wild Of course, there are limits. I once ran Belle in agility during hurricane force winds and we were both more interested in staying on our feet Kristine |
My pups hate windy days!
Thunder? get out of town! I am sure your babes will be back on track soon! |
Archie adores windy days, he loves the feeling on his face and obviously it blows through his coat, I think he looks like a conehead when walking into the wind he actively seeks out the windiest part of the garden to sit, maybe it carries interesting smells from afar? |
Chewie loves wind. Good thing, as we are in MN - a windy place. Also in the country, on top of a hill. If there is a wind, we get it!
Good for drying laundry on the clothes line though |
Chauncey loves a head wind, but if it's a tail wind he tucks his nubb and looks back, esp. if he's in short coat. |
Hudson goes nuts in the wind. I think all those smells flying around give him even crazierpuppyhead. He is completely distracted by every single new odour that wafts by.
He also has a spot he stands in our living room and inhales over and over again in an exaggerated way. I finally realized that there's a candle about six feet above his head that he likes the smell of. The magic spot must be where the air current brings the smell down to him. |
wind also has a sound frequency that effects some people and I would assume some dogs. |
Cosmo is not phased by anything...
Wind? That's great. Thunder? No problem. Lightning? Not phased. Sirens? Pays no attention. Cats? A new friend. Dogs? Better new friends. Rain? Love it. Smells? No problem. Yelling? Did you say something? He's the most easy going dog, if he didn't want to jump on people, I think he'd be considered a saint! (Can you tell how much we love him?) |
Wind doesn't bother Charlie at all. His absolute favorite thing is to hang his head out the window as we're driving down the road (it's only rolled down part way...don't worry...he's safe!!). He looks so funny with the hair blowing back from his face--we have to laugh! I can't imagine how it looks from the other cars!! |
Henry loves the wind doesn't matter what direction it's coming from he just wants to run and sniff the air.......he really doesn't like thunder. |

Careful he doesn't get grit in his eyes. |
Violet loves to be out in the wind. She used to lay in the backyard for hours on windy days. Maybe they smell more smells...I really don't know. |
lisaoes wrote: Anyone ever notice this, a gusty strong windy day and mental dogs or am I just imagining the wind plays havoc with their brains I think you are absolutely right. That is why murders increase in SoCal during the Santa Ana winds. My dogs love the wind - I have one who just runs in the yard non-stop when it is windy. They have to when you live in the land of 40 MPH spring winds - and when they ride in the convertible, with the top down! Isn't wind the main reason dogs like to lean out an open car window? |
Reading the above post reminded me of the joy Violet seems to feel when she is riding in my convertable. I also remember, when we adopted her from the rescue, they told us that she loves to lay in front of a fan... |
You know, I had forgotten to mention that.... we have fans at floor level for the dogs in the living room and in the bedroom - and they do sit in front of them. In fact, Betsy S. Ross can't sleep without it. I love it that the rescue understood the dog liked a fan. Great rescue group. Do you mind sharing which one it was? Thanks. ~n |
ROFL...well if I am fortunate enough to have an OES in our family, I'm sure to be well entertained I see. |
