We had 3 weeks sun only (for everyone who stayed in UK!!! ) and we where wearing shorts and t-shirts all time! Charlie was no problem at all as she had the most space in our car and she was always waiting passionly when we made a break so she could have a wee wee She never barked or moaned! Really a perfect sheepie for holidays! Everybody of our family and friends fell in love with Charlie! She left behind a lot of people in tears! My dad still could hear her after we left!! ?? !! There was no problem on the ferry, we liked the ferry Dover/Dunkerque, even if it was 2 hours on the ferry but it past by quick. Only when we gone back to UK we had to go to the office to check with the UK if Charlie could enter again as our Vet didnt wrote the exact date of the microchipping in, they only wrote "priory to bloodtest" which was wrong and no Vet stamp either. Therefor every time we go back we have to go to the office at the ferry! The pet passport cant be changed afterwards! We nearly thought they wouldnt let us go back but after a check everything was fine!! phuuu!! We heard after we came home that there was a fire at the Channel Tunnel (Dairymaid check this!!) and everyone had to come out on a seperate Tunnel! Glad we didnt used the tunnel!! We havent made all the visits we wanted as time was "short" when you know so many, also my dad wasnt very well for travelling too! But we had a short stay by passing Cassie,Greg and Rufus on our way back as it was directly on the motorway! They made great pictures which will be posted later!! Thank you again Cassie/Greg and Rufus!!!! We did made a decision that we want to move back to Germany in summer next year as this is a crucial time for Max to get a job when he finishes University and for me as I am (since yesterday!) 49 years old (to get a job!!) and I miss home a lot, I did realised this in this 3 weeks and also all my family and friends and I miss swimming outside which I cant do in UK and I also miss my bavarian beergarden!!! There was so much things we could do also with Charlie, like going to a restaurant with a dog (WOW!) and to the Zoo and even in the shopping mall!! I was impressed! Charlie too !! I know we just moved but sometimes things just happen quick and unexpected! But we are still here for the next Sheepie day!!!!!!!!! |

I still can't believe you took Charlie to the zoo (and of course everyone was looking at Charlie instead of the other animals!)
I wish it was like that here I think Ru would love the zoo! Pics of your visit coming soon, I will put them in 'pictures' |
Nice to see you are home safely and for the tip regarding the tunnel, although I have already booked. I will travel over on Friday the 27th March 09 and return on the following Tuesday. We have been staying almost 30 years here in Germany and although I miss home I cannot imagine returning to stay in the UK as you have more freedom regarding the dogs here in Germany, no one blinks when we visit a cafe or restaurant with the three sheepies they even ask sometimes if we would like a doggy bag for them. We have never visited a zoo with them but we have been to some wildlife parks where we had no difficulties, the sheepie is loved and adored in Germany. Maybe we will meet up next year. |
I'm glad you had a good vacation and visit home with friends and family.
It sounds like you are making a good decision to move back. Is Max OK with this too?? I know Charlie will be! How long have you been in the UK? I know I would miss the sun. Washington and Oregon in the US sound like a similar climate like the UK - and I would hate that weather all the time. We just had 2 days here like that and I am thoroughly sick of it!!! |

I was a bit sad that it didnt worked out cause Charlie would have had fun and we would have loved to meet you, your family and your Sheepies!!! Wow how great, you can take Sheepies to a wildlife park? Also this is forbidden here, I definitly will go to Munich next July, I really cant wait to be back at home!! Max is happy with it aswell, we are already starting taking things out from our house to sell! We got tooo many things we dont need and we are not taking with us, especially ALL electrical items! We lived now here for 11 years and since 2 years me and Max started to get homesick, maybe it's the right time now as Max finishes his study in June! I'm daily looking for flats in munich as we will not get a house anymore, but some flats can be really big! We are looking forward to our new life with old friends and all the family! |
