there was never anything like this. At first I did not know who it was from the 3 of them. I caught him in the act this morning. Any ideas why this is happening and how do I correct it. Thanks, Deana |

buy a cented pee post and put it out side, make a huge fuss when he uses it, and when he does wrong a big NOOOOOOOOOOOO and take the pup to the post, hopefully you can hit a balance with the NOOOOOOO and he'll catch on. |
I should haave told you this. he is 3 yrs old and was housetrained. this has got to be something more. |
ooops
You haven't cleaned with any ammonia or other cleaning agents have you?, he may be confused/encouraged by the scent. |
My guess is that he is settling in and feeling comfortable...enough to claim the spot as HIS! The honeymoon time has passed. This may have actually been a previous habit as well in his last home.
I would work on retraining like a puppy - limited time between potty trips, keep him in eyesight, potty after naps, drinking - all that. Dogs are really considered house trained for their specific home - it doesn't always apply to all indoor spaces. Another thing I would use is a belly band so he doesn't sneak a pee on the sly. |
What is a belly band? |

It is a fabric band that goes around the belly covering the offending part. It usually hooks with velcro. Here is one in a picture - I bought mine locally. http://www.kennelkomforts.net/Merchant2 ... y_Code=BB2 I have one for Simon - he is getting lazy in his old age! I stick a cheap peripad in (generic one) in case he actually goes. |
