Why can't they just give you an easy manual With pictures to show how to attach the blade... Maybe its me!!! Ive never use clippers before so! Im hoping I get some advise from you all!!!! :):) I will be ok once ive sorted them out!!!! The only reason I got them was the groomer made a mess of Hattie this time.. And maizie need to be clipped But Im not going back!!! I can do her myself... |

After using a 3 3/4 blade, I don't think I'd ever use anything else unless the dog was matted to the skin. I really like the length it leaves. The 10 will shave to the skin but I don't know what a 4F does. |
the 10 isnt bad to start with though if you haven't done it before. I have the same clipper and planning on getting the 3 3/4 blade next week when I get paid. I have used the 10 in the past though. I don't think it is hard to attach the blade - they just sort of line up don't they? |
It didn't come with a blade attached?? Oh my yes, this is tricky then, the first time. Frustrating afterwards. OK, with clipper in hand, go to top. See the slanted part? There's a square metal part about 3/4" x 3/4". It should be pulled away from the machine. Carefully slip a butter knife under it and pivot it back about 20 degrees. It is hinged along the bottom, don't break it! Now take your blade and slip it over that raised square--to that with the prining facing up towards you. Now gently push the blade so that square (now under the blade) is back against the machine. Voila!
OK, if the blade is in two pieces, that's another matter, and just plain weird!!! . Somehow you have to get the smaller piece onto the larger. The big strong clip rised in the continuous groove on the back of the smaller piece. Pry up one corner of the clip and slide a corner of the blade under the clipand align it before pushing across. (I've used many nasty words doing this). |
The blade sits on the spring-loaded lever on the clipper head. Flip the lever up and slide the blade on it. Then turn the clipper on to get the blade seated and flip the blade down toward the clipper head. To remove, turn off the clipper and flip the blade back and it will slide off the lever.
Keep the clipper and blade thoroughly oiled and let the blades cool frequently throughout the haircut. You may need to clean the blades off with blade wash the first time to remove any protective coating from the manufacturer. |
Is this the "manual" you got? No wonder you are frustrated!
http://www.osterpro.com/manuals/UnivMotorManual.pdf Andis http://www.andis.com/USA/GroomingTips.asp?Div=SmAnimal has moe tips than Oster. Also check out their All Breed Grooming PDF download. No wonder groomers want to shave sheepdogs! Says right there to use a 4F blade and scissor the face. |
