With the addition of the front loaders- I decided to do something different with the laundry / mud room. I don't know why, but those machines remind me of the washers and dryers of the 50's. Even though they don't look a thing like that era's models, I keep thinking Retro... The walls are cream, and I am accenting with Red and Black. Not really my colors, however, my grandma wanted all of the grandaughters to pick something from the back porch / laundry room/ canning room, as a momento, and, to tell a story about why it was picked. The whole family got together for the final time at Grandma's a few weeks ago, and we all chose items until the house was empty. (she passed in June) Sorry-- I got off track. One of the items I chose was Grandma's washtub. It it cream color enamal, with a ring of red around the top. I also chose a vintage wall light that is black. Thus, the accent colors. I was thinking of red and cream ticking for the window treatment. I have an old school clock that I wanted to hang in there. Beyond that, I am not sure. Braided rug? Rag rug? I have Grandma's "laundry table" that is white with a cream enamal top and is black around the edge. Kind of all mumbo jumbo. Ideas to make it retro-- with what I have as a starting point?? I think I am WAY over thinking this laundry room... |

No, you probably spend a lot of time there. LOL. All I have is a closet in the hallway...nothing to be done but new lino when I put in my front loaders. I love them!!!! The color scheme sounds great to me. |
Oh- and I don't care for "country".... even though all this stuff that I have is country. I want more of a cottage - retro look... |
