Chewie is getting closer!

We had our 1st weight pull of the season today. It was held in conjunction with the grand opening at the Paw - the awesome new facility here in Mankato.

Chewie has a Weight Pull I title - for pulling at least 20 times his body weight. We are going for champion status now. It takes 125 points and a 1st place in your weight class, with at least 4 dogs in your class. Points are accumulated by placing in the weight pulls . This gets challenging, as Chewie has gotten a 1st before, but not with 4 dogs. Also, you don't get any points if you place 1st-3rd if there are less than 4 dogs. We did have 85 points going into today.

Well, today he did great. He pulled 1,260 pounds and also got that 1st place! 1st place is worth 35 points too, so we are sitting at 120 now. 5 more lousy points!
Day 2 is tomorrow (in a different place - up in the Twin Cities), so if he places in the top 3, he will have his championship.
:yay: :excited: :cheer:

Kind of scary too - because then he always has to compete in the champion class, against all the REALLY GOOD dogs!

Pretty good for the beginning of the season, after a long hot summer with little real work and miles under him. 8)
His previous best pull was 1500, with several 1250's. So, this pull represents his 2nd best ever . AND, it was outdoors and slightly uphill today - so it really is a super pull. :D :D :D
I am so proud of my boy!!!

Wow! There is nothing Chewie can't do. Have you checked to see if he wears a blue suit with a big S on the chest under all his beautiful fur?
Congrats Chewie!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Keeping our paws crossed that Superdog Chewie does well today! Pictures please!
Thanks for the well wishes. :D

I hope all goes well today. He was so "on" yesterday. Today will be hard to measure up!
But, he had a good night's sleep and is happy and bouncy this morning. I think he knows something is happening today too.

Hopefully I have good news to report tonight.
I will try and have someone take pictures too. :D
Go Chewie!!!! :cheer:
Chewie makes me feel like such a loser. He has so many more skills than me and a more active social life.
