Suggestion for BD present for husband

Today is John's Birthday. I haven't bought him a thing yet. He is so hard to buy for... I get tired of the same ole' OSU Jerseys, ect...

Any fun ideas??? I have until 4:00 to shop

The only thing I have done is buy crab legs--- his favorite-- for dinner. Food is always first on my list.

Does he golf? My husband would love a paid for gift certificate to play golf with his dad or friends. Guess that's not too personal of a gift though if it's coming from a spouse. Hmm...

Does he need a new wallet? I always consider that the fall back gift.

My husband always goes on and on about wanting all these sports cars. So I think getting a mini model of whatever he dreams about but can't afford would be cute too. Can put it in his office (in the house).
Price range?
brian just turned 50 yesterday....he forgot it was his birthday..lol...he hates to make birthdays a big deal and he didnt want to go out, so i just made him his favorite dinner...mahi mahi....walked panda and had a quiet evening....boy, does getting old make you boring.....NOT me, im gonna party EVERY birthday like it is 1999!!!
You gals are way overthinking this.

There is one birthday present that EVERY married man wants.
Well, two.
OK three, tops.
Treat him to a "spa" night, romantic dinner, candles, massage you get the picture
Adam is also really hard to buy for; anything he wants, he buys for himself. So a few years ago I began giving him "experiences". First I flew with him to Boston, where we saw the Boston Pops conducted by their one-time conductor, John Williams. Adam is a huge Star Wars and Indiana Jones fan, so seeing the man that composed that music perform it was something else!

This year I am going to send Adam and a friend to NYC to see Garrison Keeler perform live. He loves Prairy Home Companion, so I thought this would be fitting.

Can you do something like that? Maybe tie an experience in with something your husband really loves? If he loves crab legs so much; maybe a dinner out to someplace that specializes in them? Or depending on where you live, a trip to actually go crabbing? We used to do that in the summer as kids; its very fun and relaxing.
ok; I just saw that you are in Ohio... so no crabbing then.

I was going to suggest that but quite frankly, that easy gift sometimes requires more work than any other gift. You have to be in the right mindset and be prepared for him to receive his "gift" if you intend on giving them that. :P

Great idea Ginny--- but who could I get at this short notice to do all of that for him? :twitch: :D

Seriously-- I like the idea of romance, and, tying it in with something he loves, which is golf!!

I just printed off a gift certificate to OgleBay in Wheeling ( pro golf courses) complete with a stay at the Oglebay lodge. We used to go there YEARS ago, when we were poor, and too young to know we were poor ;)
We always went with another couple, but never stayed in the lodge. He will enjoy that. My Dad said he would love to go too, so, I also got him a gift certificate for the same package! His BD is the end of the month. Sharon ( my Dad's GF) and I have been friends for years, so, we can do some girl stuff while they golf, and then, in the evening- it is every couple to themselves :)

THANKS!

the golfing gift sounds PERFECT! I love the idea of you guys staying at the lodge!!! I bet he will to!
I was referring to beer, chips and dip during football season (which starts Sunday), of course.
Men...

That sounds like a wonderful gift!! No way I could have managed finding a gift THE DAY OF like you!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to him!!

I just re-read that -- about my Dad and his GF. I put that kind of weird. 'Every couple to themselves" <shudder> Ugh!
That sounds like a great gift idea, Lori. Good thinking. :D

Of course you were...
:D
That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
Well-- The gift was a hit!

So were the crab legs and the pineapple upside down cake.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! Led me to just the right place :)
