ADVICE PLEASE: Swollen Lymph Node - Human Variety

I'm kindly seeking advice from those health care professionals in the group :D My chiropractor and I determined that I have a very swollen lymph node at the base of my skull that developed over the last 1.5 weeks. Is this something to be overly concerned with and rush over to my primary or can I do something myself to reduce it? The bump is in a spot where I receive an injection of a lidocaine/marcaine mixture (I think those are the substances) to numb some of my chronic neck muscle pain.

The chiro suggested ice just to alleviate some of the pressure on my neck muscles which I did for a day. It's in an awkward spot and hard to hold the ice pack there.

Any advice? Thanks guys!

Hmmm, I don't really know about that one, Stacy.

On one hand it seems concerning, as it has just appeared suddenly.
On the other hand, it doesn't seem that out of line with getting injections at that site.

I guess I would still run it past your doctor.
You have chains of lymph nodes running down each side of the the vertebrae. Lymph nodes are trash cans for the body and are a sign that you are fighting something.

The fact that this is an injection site makes me a little more concerned. Is this truly a lymph node or a cyst or an injection site reaction.

I'd probably go in... but that's just me.
I would see a doctor Stacy. Chiropracters can be a big help for pain relief, but they are not medical doctors.
I would definitely seek advice of your Doctor.

If it is nothing all well and good.

Would you ignore something if it was your sheepie?
Swollen lymph nodes can be nothing or something and VERY rarely a serious something. If it has not gone away in a few days I would see a Dr.

It could also be a hematoma from the injection, and not a lymph node at all. Ice would help with that.

A visit to your MEDICAL Dr. will ensure that it is an isolated node, and not involving more nodes.
Thank you all for responding to my post about the lump. Well, IT'S GONE! No more sensitive spot :D Boy, it hurt!
Glad you are better now Stacy!!!!
glad to hear you are doing better!
Keep a careful watch, glad its gone but be vigilant.
Sorry I am late in replying Stacy.
Swollen lymph nodes are very common with Fibro.
Glad it's better.
