Yesterday, he was released from the hospital, into a care facility, for rehab and to gain back strength. We are so - so thankful that he is still with us, and getting better each day. As a side note, we had offered to bring him to our house to recouperate. We thought it was a done deal, and have spent countless hours arranging the spare bedroom to make it comforatable and welcoming for him. The home care rehab nurses were scheduled and just waiting for his release. Two years ago, he lost his insurance when his employer went out of business. He took early retirement, but, is not yet old enough for medicare. He pays his own premiums on a basic insurance, that will not even begin to pay the costs of his hospital stay. We really wanted to help ease his money woes, and beyond that, help him through his long term recovery. Well...... yesterday, I was just putting the finishing touches on his room, when the phone rang. It was John's Mom, telling me that she had talked him into going into a private care facility. I told her that we wanted what was best for him, and, if round the clock care was still needed, then we totally understood. "Oh no" she says. Nothing like that. She just didn't want to take the chance of running into John's Dad. If BIL was at our house, in her words" the quarters would be too close with no place to hide" if they would both happen to visit at the same time. And-- she wants John's sister to feel comfortable in visiting. For those that have followed my venting, you know that whole saga. In the total scheme, it doesn't matter. Just needed to vent! The bottom line is he is getting better, and that is all we care about! Thanks again for the well wishes and prayers. We have appreciated each one, and so has Jim. |

Sigh.
Excellent news on the health front though! |
Oh yeah, think of yourself first before the ill and infirmed. Self centered? noooooooooooooooooo |
I am happy to hear that your bil is doing so much better. I pray that he re habs quickly!
Thank you for the update! |
Just checked in on him this morning. He has had two good nights. He says the days are long.... and he hates the food there. That is no suprise. He is quite a cook, and seasons to high heavens. I am sure the low sodium diet is killing him. BUT keeping him alive |

HA HA.... My mom had that same issue when she was in care after her heart surgeries. I am glad to hear he is doing better. I can relate to the family drama... *sigh* but keep your chin up that he continues to get better. |
So glad to hear he is improving. Sepsis is such a rare post op complication, but serious!!
I don't suppose the MIL offerred to PAY the cost of the private care facility did she? |
Glad he is doing better...let him decide where he
wants to go if he is able..... I am sure he would rather be at your house than at a nursing facility. Very kind of you to offer |
I am so glad to hear your bil is doing better, and also sad to hear where he has been forced to be for his rehab. Some things never change, do thay? |
