| Our company was bought out by a competitor but we were lucky enough to keep all our seniority and vacation time. Within a year or so we almost got caught up in a hostile takeover by another company. An even larger company came in as our "white knight" to thwart the takeover and we ended up being absorbed by them.
Then, of course, our "white knight" began shutting down plants and bringing in their own people. Everyone became a number rather than a person and it was a very unhappy place to work. People were begging to be let go as the company did have a good severance package. I was lucky enough to be one of them and will never go back to working for a large company. Retirement is great!  |
