Then Wednesday night (coming home from a WW meeting) a young man ran a stop sign, hit me and sent lovely Sammy spining around, up a parkway...heading for tree! I just kept telling myself TURN THE WHEEL TURN THE WHEEL! When my car stopped, I was about 6 inches from the tree. Someone was watching over me. No broken bones, but I'm left with a lower back problem, a sore left knee, and lots and lots sore muscles. It could have been much worse. I've been to the doctor and for a series of x-rays. Doc hasn't gotten the x-rays back yet. When the inflamation subsides, I will be starting physical therapy for my back. But my darling car sits, broken at the body shop waiting for the adjuster. Poor Sammy I've been feeling a lot of bad stuff building up around me lately. I'm hoping that will be the "grand finale". Well time to take some meds and try to find a comfy position to watch tv. Comfy is not a word I'm using very often these days. |

wow deb...no kidding, youve had a bad week! hopefully your lil stop sign runner has insurance!!!
i hope you feel better! |
as bad as all that sounds, I'm so glad you are okay!!!! Sounds like your driving skills kept it from being a far worse accident than it was!
Relax, get comfy, and try and feel better soon! |
Wow... I'd be in bed right now for sure!!
Hope things get better over the weekend.... ***Sending Sunny Thoughts*** |
Deb, how terrible the accident! I hope you feel better soon. |

i hope you feel better! When he walked out of his "pickup truck" (oy), with his shaggy hair and dangling a cigarette out of his mouth, I thought "Oh F***!" But he came over to my car and say, I am SO sorry! He's only 18 and he immediately called his parents (who came over). Yes, he is insured by Allstate, so I'm ok. I sorta feel badly for this kid...I'm sure his parents aren't thrilled with him now...and I'm sure his insurance will sky rocket. As much as I feel badly for him, I'm feeling really in pain...and that will become his problem. After the accident, a woman came over to my car. She lives across the street from where it happened. She heard the crash, She stayed with me until my husband came. She offered me water and whatever. What a saint. What a sweetheart. When I'm up to it, I plan on taking a cake or some flowers to her. |
Wow Deb, I'm glad you're ok!! |
What an experience! Glad you're OK! Take your time getting back to work. You've had a lot on your plate recently. (carefully offered!) |
OMG OMG I'm so glad you're OK!!!
HEAL! |
Hope you feel better soon |

I hope so also |
I'm so sorry for Sammy, but he can be fixed. A co-worker was in a similar accident a few years ago and was told to have her teeth checked--getting hit can result in hairline cracks in the teeth that cause problems later. So also get thee to your dentist.
A shot (or 2) of Scotch helps the hurt go away. |

A shot (or 2) of Scotch helps the hurt go away. Paula...that is so interesting. I bite my tongue while the "spin" was going on...and now, my back right side tooth hurts. Hmmm....I know I was "crunching" my pearlies, maybe I cracked it. I started using Sensidine thinking that was the problem...maybe...maybe not. Thanks sweetie... Oh..BTW...Sammy is a GIRL, AHEM! (As in...Samantha!) |
OMG!!! I hope you will feel better soon Deb...how scary!!! |
You body has be wacked big time.......make sure you get enough PT. Hope nothing structural has been damaged.....other than a possible tooth. How's your neck? When your spine went one way, your neck went the other.
Yes, we are all hoping this was the end of some bad times for you and everything is will be better. |
Deb,
So sorry to hear this news-please get some rest and the evals and treatment you need. An auto accident is such a fright and a shock to your body and your mind. The young man learned an important lesson, but at the expense of injuring an innocent person. He needs no wheels for awhile in order to review his poor judgement , walking does wonders.... Hope he wasn't on the cell phone or text messaging --two of the driving evils we have alot of here lately. (When you feel better, you need a day spa holiday) |
Deb
Heal quickly....... I am sure you have many angels watching over you! |
Deb,
How are you doing? Sometimes the day(s) after an accident can be more uncomfortable. Please give us an update when you can. Hugs to you! |
Hi Deb,
This is a perfect example of when bad things happen to good people. I'm sorry you had to go through with this...urg! Nothing worse than back problems and then the time spent recouping. I'm so glad to hear it wasn't worse and sending a very gentle hug your way. Keep us posted. Marianne |
Wow, Deb! I'm just catching up on this after being away yesterday, and I'm SO glad you're basically okay! Yes, Sammy can be fixed but she does look so sad, too!
At least thankfully the kid was insured. How much damage did he do to his own truck? |
WOW Sammy is in a bad way, poor sammy.
Just so glad you are OK,maybe sore but sammy can be fixed and you are what counts, no serious injury, hugs Kiddo and thank goodness the other person has insurance. Things have to perk up now, I always say when bad luck hits it comes in 3's then you are right for awhile. So good things are coming your way now. |
Oh Deb, I am so sorry.
I am sorry about your beautiful car and your pain. Luckily Sammy can be fixed up and be as good as new. I do hope the same for you!!! Someone was definitely watching over you when this happened. I am so happy you didn't hit that tree. That was a very close call. |
Bless your heart. I hope this was the grand finale, and from now on, only sunshine will follow you!

Poor Deb and poor Sammy! |
Thank you all for your good wishes. Turns out, I'm a terrible patient. I am used to being physically fit and active. I expect to be feeling "good" by now. I'm not. I'm getting very discouraged. A lot of my small muscular aches are gone, but the big guys (my lower back, left knee and my shoulders) are still very uncomfortable. I am wearing a lumbar (sp?) backbrace. I go back to work tomorrow, and I'm nervous about it. My most difficult position is sitting..and, well...I'm an accountant. Sitting puts lots of pressure on my back. I'm not one to be grumpy..but I am SO grumpy! I want to exercise, or go running, or even treadmilling, but I just plain can't do it. And...I'm worried about gaining weight, because I feel sorry for my self...so I'm looking for comfort food. (UGH!) I'm so sorry to sound down, but I am not used to not being in control of my body...and shaking stuff off. I know it will get better. I will be starting PT in about a week. Thanks guys...you are bringing smiles to my face. PS...Tony took me to the grocery this morning to pick a few things. About 10 minutes into shopping he said...Ah could you hurry up...(get this) MY BACK IS STARTING TO BOTHER ME! GGGRRRRRHHHHH!!!! I wanted to smack him with a banana!!!! |
Oh, Deborah! I'm so sorry this happened to you and this week of all weeks. Accidents SUCK! Glad you are okay though and in one piece! |
Deb , So sorry about your accident !! Take it Easy, take your meds, and hopefully you will be back to your old self soon |
I'm sorry you're still feeling lousy Deb.
I'll think of you tomorrow while I'm in the MRI machine. |
Ouch!!!
That's for you Deb, and your poor car Sammy. I hope you both get back to normal soon. And Ron, good luck in the MRI. |
YOWZA
I'm glad your are (sorta) ok........ just keep telling yourself it could have been worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Ron wrote: I'm sorry you're still feeling lousy Deb.
I'll think of you tomorrow while I'm in the MRI machine. Ron, good luck today! I know MRIs can be icky, so hang in there, close your eyes and pretend your on a beach listening to the waves! Let us know how it goes! Deborah |
Deb I am so sorry. Here is hoping you feel better soon and that the aches and pains are nothing long term. |
I don't like the beach much. Last time I was on the beach enjoying an iced tea, an environmentalist ran up and started to chip away at the ice while calling in for a rescue team.

Oy...why am I ever nice to you? Good luck anyway! |
Thank you. |
Oh Deb! I'm just catching up and saw your post. So sorry you had a terrible week and this awful accident to top it all off. Yikes! Please, take it easy and take care of yourself. |
Aw, I'm sorry you have much pain . Please be aware of ANY pins and needles feelings in your arms and thighs, numbness, anything like that. If you notice any, get to your doctor for a MRI. I was in a nothing accident that resulted in having a plate screwed in my neck and a fusion done on my spine. My neuro doc told me that fender bender type accidents can cause a lot of damage to your cervical and lumbar areas so please be careful. And take your meds on time even if you don't think you need it otherwise they don't take care of the pain the way they should |
