I was told that boric acid will get rid of crickets.....but what will it do for my dog.......I don't want to use chemical sprays |

If you find out how to get rid of Crickets safely, let me know.
I had a Cricket keep me up last week until 3am. It was in my sink drain, so he was super amplified. I tried to drown him... even poured some Pinesol down the drain mixed with really hot water. That didn't work either. I am watching one walk across the living room while I am typing this. |
Eww. You need a lizard, perhaps a water dragon |
You puff the boric acid under refrigerators, behind sinks and under baseboards. Don't let it be out in the open where noses can sniff it.
Since crickets will eat anything in your home, from wall paper paste to your clothing, you don't want a population indoors! To say nothing of that chirping. So keep them out by using barrier sprays around the outside, keep weeds and grasses away from house foundations, check chaulking/weather stripping around windows and doors, plus holes, etc. The least toxic way to get crickets with with glue boards....same things used for mice control. You can bait the glue board with cornmeal in the center. Don't let puppers find the glue boards.....it's a mess getting them off the dogs! Crickets can develop over the years, living in crawl spaces, etc. so keep after them. |
Color me naive...my first thought is she has a perfectly organic cricket killer at her disposal: Chief!
That's Che's job around here. He's an avid bug hunter. The cat helps him as needed. And that explains that incessant screeching pitched sound I heard when I took the dogs out at lunch time. We have them in So Wisconsin as well and evidently in large numbers. Kristine |

Kristine You may be hearing Cicadas - like giant crickets. They hatch every 17 years, and 2008 is a hatch year! Enjoy them now, they won't be back until 2025....... |
