At this point, Dawn, we have only earned the actual DOG SCOUT BADGE, which means that Heart and I have been seen three times by our TROOP LEADER, have gone through a series of obedience commands, each time to insure that 'we' are a responsible, polite team... One of the 'tests'--- Heart passing a small plate of shaved ham and she must leave it alone with only a 'leave it' command and no leash correction on my part at all. At one point, she walked directly over it without bothering it. The final test was for her to walk close to a LARGE stuffed crow without stomping on it..again with only a command NO leash corrections AT ALL. Since Heart is still a 'work in progress' so to speak, (we are currently in an intermediate obedience class) I was very anxious about her reactions to both the ham AND the crow, but she did great!!!! We ARE in the process of earining the Clean-Up America I Badge --collecting 500 stray cans around town, with Heart pointing to the can and carrying them in a backpack (which of course cannot be packed--not too much weight due to injury) So I am forced to look like a bag lady in my neighborhood, walking in the heat, smelling like a brewery....  (Judi??? here's your cue...pictures???? AND the reason I started with THIS particular badge....)
And Clean Up America II Badge--- (you're gonna LOVE this one)--Cleaning up stray POOP...50 piles!!! Since I am still a newbie...I am learning so much,Heart is experiencing so much..and meeting so many very nice people..especially when I have to continually explain to strangers why I am collecting .......   |
| LOL - there must be more beer drinkers than pop drinkers in your area!!!
(that you smell like a brewery) I guess that smell is better than all the bees that the pop cans attract, though. Chewie volunteers to be Heart's pack-boy!! I hope you get through the cans soon, so you can get on to level II!!!   |

Dawn, I told her that I don't want any badge enough to go around looking for poop. That is one badge that Heart will have that Harry will NEVER have! I am sure that earning that badge will fill her with ..... Pride or maybe something else.....  |

So this explains the weird hints I've been getting from Val and Judi about the peculiar goings on in St Louis sheepdog circles... 
I'm afraid to ask how you carry the poop around (Belle says if anyone tried to put poop in HER back pack she would run away from home) and how they verify you picked up 50 piles and...so many unanswered questions. Please, please let them remain that way

Dawn - St Louis - beer cans. HELLO! Of course, living close to the other midwestern brewery town...Milwaukee...
Ali - you're such an open-minded breeder to cheer your dog being by all appearances turned into a drunken bag lady...And, of course, Dawn rushes right in and volunteers Chewie's help.
Yup, this is why we breed sheepdogs. So they can carry stinky beer cans around. So proud.

There are(were) breweries in St Paul too, but I never noticed that many beer cans, compared to pop cans anyway. Home to Grain Belt, Hamms, Pigs Eye, Schells. Maybe MN has neater drunks? |

(you should see my neighbors give me the evil eye for having a yard full of agility equipment, probably in their mind placed very arbitrarily. I fully expect to wake up one day and find it all neatly arranged )
At least Chewie has good taste in lady friends. Val may have her looking like a bag lady, but we all know Heart is a lady at, well, heart.

I have 1 picture of her with about 8 'bags' when I first began my collection.... Since I am a terrible photographer (gave all my great talent to Nick, by osmosis.... ) The picture is of Heart with the only the tops of a couple of the bags in the frame--but Heart looks so cute!!!!! Dog Scouts is an organization that is BIG on honor. So these two badges on the honor system--I am taking pics of Heart and cans/bottles. And we have to document the day and place we collected with a 'witness' signature. I have collect 349 cans/bottles...I really think I am going to wait and finish up at the nationals..I am sure I will be able to find 151 cans (easy) at the after-parties...And of course you AND Dawn are invited to every one of them!!!! As far as the poo...well....I guess I can post my cell phone number in a couple of the bathrooms...ya know....POOPER SCOOPER F A S T SERVICE ...CALL HEART @??????????...
