If he's that sick, I'd take him to the vet and bounce a check on it. It's only like a $50 fee by the time all is said and done and if it's the difference between life and death, I'd do it. (Note: I would normally not encourage fraud but you sound pretty desperate.) |
I am sorry this is happening to you and your precious pup..
Do you or your husband have any relatives, friends, coworkers that you could borrow the money from? Even if they are not in the area, they can wire it to your bank or directly to the vet's office..... Where I work, employees ask for loans that they payback each week through payroll. Maybe your employer or coworkers would help you..I know if one of the other employees asked me, I would not hesitate to help... Many states have those 'loan' companies..you could give them your car titile or other title and you can borrow that way.... The bottom line is you must get him to a vet ASAP!!! I would not be opposed to bouncing a check either...I know I would make it right as soon as I could.... Please keep us posted... |
i"m so sorry to hear of this. Leza, if you husband is in the military, isn't there some agency to help you with financial emergencies? If not...bounce that check and please get to vet. When they call to tell you the check has bounced, explain. They may understand and be able to give you a discount. If not, you can probably make arrangement to pay it off, if you are honest. But you need to get your boy treated. Good luck. |
You need to go to the Vet NOW!
Have you explained your situation? How terrible that a Vet will not bill you. |
Contact the United Animal Nations.
They may be able to help. http://www.uan.org/index.cfm?navid=28 Let us know how you make out!! |

Credit care is a credit company that has a branch that specializes in veterinary care. I know it is accepted by almost every Veterinary hospital in my area, you should be able to find someone in your area to accept it. I was told about this by my Vet when Ty needed very expensive surgery. Be warned that the interest rate is very high BUT, if you only need a short term loan it shouldn't be too bad. On the web site is a place to "search" for a Dr., you enter the specialty and your zip code and it will give you a Dr. who accepts Credit care. You may need to expand your search to surrounding areas depending on where ou live. But, you will be wable to obtain care for your dog. |

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

It says on the CareCredit website that they have both no interest and low fixed interest plans. I would check into this to see if it's an option. http://www.carecredit.com/paymentplans.html Best wishes to your baby. |

I cannot remember exactly but it seems to me that after three months the interest is as high as 21%. It does say they have a no interest plan, but I was never able to find out what that was and even my Vet didn't know. The Vet's assistant said if you could pay the loan withing 3 months it wasn;t too ad but anything over that was very high. We didn't end up going with them, I was able to get a short term cedit union loan. |
Yeah, I don't know how it really works.
It does say that not all offices offer all plans. Be sure to read and understand all terms, limits, etc. and ask questions before signing up! I had typed in a $1,000 loan and this is what it brought up... http://www.carecredit.com/payment_calcu ... &x=53&y=10 Quote: Payment Plan Estimated Monthly Payment * No Interest Payment Plans (Estimate Details and Terms) 3 Month No Interest $333 6 Month No Interest $167 12 Month No Interest $83 18 Month No Interest $56 ** Extended Payment Plans (Estimate Details and Terms) 24 Monthly Payments; 11.90% APR $47 36 Monthly Payments; 11.90% APR $33 48 Monthly Payments; 11.90% APR $26 60 Monthly Payments; 11.90% APR $22 |

If it's life or death and that was your only option you wouldn't do it? I've never bounced a check in my life but if it came right down to it I'd do it and then just come right in with the money the day I had it in my hand. Like I said, it's not something I'd recommend but if you've got nothing and death is staring your dog in the face, it's calling for drastic measures. I'd just use a credit card! |
Many of us might consider drastic things if our dog might be dying and we
couldn't pay for care. It seems in this case the pup might just require an office call and a prescription until funds are again available. Have you talked with the breeder or the person you purchased your puppy from to get help from them? How about your local shelter... maybe they have a vet on staff and are more willing to bill you or allow you to work off the care provided? I'd be begging to scoop poop, scrub cages, mow the lawn, etc. if they would just provide needed care now. |
I understand what Jill was saying, if my dog was dying I'd bounce a check without blinking and I've never bounced a check before). |
I think drastic action is called for - no question. look for a vet willing to take a post dated check. use a credit card - yes. but intentionally writing a bad check only hurts all the rest of us in the long run as costs go up etc.
Besides does anyonelse think its strange to put that question out on a forum with no connection to the breed where people are known to offer up money to help sick dogs? |

Oh, that's a definite "yes" Kerry. It was the second thing that crossed my mind. So only ideas were shared. I have in the past assisted with funding a little medical care for OESs. If you ever offer to help fund medical care for a dog, get the vet's full name, clinic name, address and telephone number. Research it online to verify it's legitimate and then call the office and talk with them. Send funds ONLY to the facility providing the care, NEVER to the individual. Just to share a story... Almost 4 years ago, someone on eBay was begging for help. Her OES had JUST had a terrible accident and needed emergency care. I contacted her for the full story. This was the ad/listing- http://oesusa.com/EbayOES.jpg I requested the vet's info and received it. Upon calling the vet for info on this dog, they said there was an OES that had been hit by a car 6 months before but had died and the vet bill was paid in full. They went so far as to do a walk through to see if there was an injured OES on site and couldn't find one. I'm certainly NOT saying this is the same type of situation because I have not looked into it further. But there are liars out there that prey on others. |
