It might help if you tell us where you are and a little something about the dog. many people will also tell you to contact rescue in your area. |
if you are near me I would love to have her. I live in NYS. We have just 2 of our dogs in the last 4 months. PM me I give me more info. |
Please refer to
http://www.oes.org/html/oes_rescue.shtml I am sure you can find somebody in your area on this list to help you. Good Luck |
We have spoken to Sassy's owner and hope to adopt her next week! We have a 1 year old baby boy, and I would love to post his picture as our avatar, but I can't get a pic to reduce properly. Anyone have any advice? |
Hi,
Welcome to the community! In a nutshell, use the photo gallery to produce thumbnails of the appropriate size. There's an FAQs section here http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=1119#45688 that goes into detail. Welcome and good luck! Keep us posted! |

Hello Ron and Everyone on the OES forum, Sadly, we aren't getting to adopt Sassy as we thought. We contacted Sassy's owner, explained about our OES and home and said we'd love to adopt her. Another phone call and an email were exchanged, and plans were made for Cosmo's daddy (and Cosmo) to drive from Northern VA to SC to pick up Sassy. Cosmo was really excited about having a new friend! Upon arrival in SC, Sassy's owner would not answer her phone, voice mails were left... Upon arrival to Sassy's home, her owner would not answer the door. She eventually answered the phone and said abruptly that the dog was given away over the weekend and then hung up. When calling back the phone number again, she claimed she was the babysitter and had no idea when the owners would return and hung up again. Then a man called back from the same number and told Comsmo and his daddy to leave and that he didn't care that he'd just driven down from Northern VA and that it was "his problem"... Now Comso and his daddy are sitting outside of Sassy's residence feeling very hurt and confused. Can you imagine how much gas it took to get to SC from Northern VA (over 500 miles eac way)? We were happy to do it to provide a home to an OES in need, but not so happy now that we've been jerked around. If Sassy's owner decided at the last minute she couldn't bear to part with her, for whatever reason, couldn't she have had a heart and told us that? We'd understand such a thing. But the rude treatment that was dished over is just inexcuseable. I hope no one else experiences something like this, it's not only heart-breaking, it's just sickening... If anyone else has spoken to Tammy (803.586.7002) at 1142 Cedar Terrace, Columbia, SC 29209 about adopting Sassy - PLEASE do not travel there to pick up the dog. I'm not sure what was going on, but save yourself the heartbreak!!! Some of you might suggest we only deal with rescue organizations in the future because this wouldn't have happened. Lesson learned. We thought we'd found an OES that fit our family... what a horrible ending. |
oh my what a shame and a crime .. to have driven that far and to be treated like that.. i hope the pup is ok.. seems like something fishy with the owner ?? |
How sad! I am sorry that you were so badly disappointed! Please don't give up, I am sure there is a sheepie out there for you.
Shame on that person! |
Cosmo's mom:
What a terrible ending to an anitcipated joyful one!!!! I am so sorry for you and Cosmo. I am like you in not understanding why someone would be this rude and cruel! Everyone's entitled to change their mind but why put someone through what you went through??? I am at a loss for words and there can be no explanation or justification to why you were treated like that. It is a shame that there are such people in this world..I sure hope Sassy did, in fact, get a good home and wasn't dropped off somewhere. Who knows what a person like that would do!!! I am sure there is a special sheepie in need of a furever home out there for you and I am praying you will find him/her very very soon. Again, I am so sorry that you, your husband and poor little Cos had such a horrible time--- SHAME ON THOSE PEOPLE!!!! But hugs to all of you!!!!! . |
I am so sorry for what you and your husband are going through.
I do hope everything is alright with the poor pup. I have rescued outside of Rescue Organizations four times, and had one that was misrepresented. Fortunately, I was able to manage the situation. I was lucky, I know. I hope you are able to put this behind you soon. What a terrible experience. |
Cosmo's mom, I'm so sorry this happened. But please don't let this deter you from adopting/rescuing a sheepie. There's so many good people out there--one bad person shouldn't be allowed to spoil what can and should be a joyful experience for you and a dog. As far as Sassy goes, I hope she is in good hands. |
Thank you all for your support. Cosmo and his daddy are finishing up their 16 hour round-trip drive... It will not deter us from adopting/rescuring another OES when everything is "right"... Cosmo is being a real trooper, but his daddy is pretty down and feeling sad. Bottom line, we HOPE Sassy has a good home now, whereever that is. |
I still can't believe that they had to act that way. OMG. How rude and for no real apparant reason.... They coulda handled it better even if, as you mentioned, they decided to keep Sassy or found someone else.
Sometimes people's behavior just blows my mind.... |
What an awful story! I am so sorry you went through this. I hope Sassy is ok. Looking forward to sweet Cosmo and his daddy putting this miserable event behind them. It boggles the mind that people can be so inconsiderate. |
It would be nice if Sassy's person would let us all know
if she is okay..... |
Sorry you had such an unpleasant experience in attempting to rescue a sheepie.
This person and situation sounds awfully familiar. |
I am so sorry! Thank you god I've only dealt with OES and Bouvier des Flanders rescue folks.
Please don't let the miserable individual put up you off rescue in general. She probably did change her mind, but that is NO excuse for what she put you, Cosmos daddy, and poor Cosmo through. A call would have been nice! True rescue people will go above and beyond the call of duty to find a furever home for their rescues. The ones I have dealt with are some of the most caring people in the entire world. Thanks Jim Spurling.....The grandaddy of all OES rescue angels.....for our Gulliver. Thanks Marcia and Bouv rescue for our Boo Boo Bear! Thanks to all the good people out there that open their hearts and homes for both rescue and adoption! Jim |
What a horrible experience! I am so sorry that happened.
Those people should be ashamed of themselves!! I am relieved that you haven't given up on rescuing a dog. Both of mine were rescues and they are the most amazing dogs. |
What is wrong with people . Wonder how many hearts have been broken by this witch? |
Even sadder is that the same kind of person who first wants to give up a 5 month old dog on a snap decision, and then decides she doesn't want to give her up is also the kind of person who will do the same thing again in the future. I hate when people treat dog ownership lightly |
Sorry this story didn't have a happy ending. I sincerely hope Sassy is in capable hands.
There is the perfect rescue woofer waiting just round the corner. When this pup sleeps he dreams of you and all the love you have to share. Just be patient he will soon be there. |
OMG That was just hurtful and rude I am so sorry for you guys , Some people just amaze me. Keep your chin up, and I know you will find a special sheepie |
I am soo soo sorry this happened to you. What a horrible thing to do.
This sounds all too familiar. If you all remember almost exactly a year ago to the date someone by the name of Bobby's girl posted FROM South Carolina that she was looking for someone to adopt her oes. I said I was interested and had emailed her. I said that I would be in VA and would try to make it down there to pick up the pup. Sounds like the same person. She quickly stopped answering my emails as fast as she answered them. THere was no "I changed my mind" or "I found a home for the pup' NOTHING> sounds like the same person to me. |
Did she use English Sheepie too http://forum.oes.org/search.php?search_ ... ishSheepie ?????
Maybe there wasn't really a pup at all??? She could be making it all up for attention??? My grandfather used to say "All the Monkeys aren't in the zoo" So sorry this happened to you, what a heartbreak! |
I have no clue if that is the same person or not, but it does make you wonder...
We'll never know what really happened... Thank you everyone for your support and kind words. |
What is sad is, it does make one leary of someone posting from SC saying they need help finding a home for their sheepie. It could also interfere with a dog really needing help. Kind of like the story of the little boy who cried wolf. |

I just wanted to post the link to the other thread that is so similar. Maybe we can stop this from happening to someone else by comparing and looking at the similarities.

Ron,
Can you tell if they all come from the same computer? (She can be using different one) but it would be interesting to know. Maybe she (geez maybe it's a guy who knows w/ so many lies) could be blocked? |
Living in SC, I can tell you there are crazy people here.
I really hate this happened to you. I also tried to talk this lady into giving the female from last year up with no luck. I'm crazy also, but it's crazy in love with my sheepies!! |
Just to let you all know the two from that post are fine!'
Kissy, now Chloe lives with a friend of mine in SC! Shaggy went to another rescue group and I am sure he is fine. It was an ordeal but, they are safe!!! |
I guess they were real. How did they ever get the dogs from the kook? |

You know Chloe (Kissy) was just over a year old and already in horrible shape. She had to have dental surgery and a mass removed from her rectum! Her new mommy loves her! |
how did the new moms get these sheepies away from the nut? |
She did surrender the dogs......
Not to a specific rescue but, she wanted them back I talked to her because, she kept harassing rescue groups! All in all the pups are fine! |
I'm just glad she finally allowed someone to take them off her hands so they could get the care that they need. Thanks for helping Chloe find a good home. |
Thanks to Chloe's momma---I have finally been able to post pics!
(It was my lack of computer skills) This is Chloe(aka Kissy) The girl from SC who is such a wonderful gal! I met her last week as they adopted Oliver from us! Chloe is in a great home and VERY HAPPY!!!!!!! Mr Biggles....what a hunk! That's our Oliver! Somebody was in something! |
is she a byb? where does she keep getting the dogs that she posts these fabricated stories about? |
shelby, corky, fergus wrote: is she a byb? where does she keep getting the dogs that she posts these fabricated stories about?
There are alot of dogs that come into rescue here in NC/SC from a "kennel" in Salisbury/Statesville, NC area. There are not contracts that the "breeder" will take them back. |
so does this loco adopt them & decide not to keep them or is she a byb? |
I have no idea....
I still hope that Sassy is ok. I do believe there really was a dog but, maybe I am wrong(I hope) |
Thanks for the pics She looks very happy and content. She has a cute little patch on her back like our Sophie. You rescue people are wonderful |
AWw, she looks so happy. Although I must let you know that I am concerned for the safety of that shoe in the first pic... |
So what happened to Cosmo's parentals? Did they find a pup???
oops, never mind, just saw they adopted Roxie so it was a happy ending all the way around!2 |
