Question about Curves

Currently looking at 2 different women's exercise programs.

Any idea on how much per month the fee is at Curves?

The other program I am looking at is privately owned

and will open in a few weeks. So I do not have a price for

that program yet.

Thanks!

Save you $$ and get a treadmill. I'm up first thing in the am (studies show that am exercisers keep it up longer them pmers do). I'm going on 3 months now.
Curves is about $35 per month. I have had really good luck with Curves. I was going 6 days a week and you go through the whole worke out in 30 minutes. I highly recommend Curves.
I belong to a Curves here in Cincinnati and it is about $32 a month. The Curves are franchises and their quality can vary widely.
Since I have a bad knee, I also started doing water exercises 3 times a week. The water program is soooo much better and sooo much more fun. But, it is a set class at a set time and I do much better in that atmosphere. I'm lucky to live near a rehab hospital that offers water classes to the public.
Thanks so much for the replies! I have until Sept to make
a decision.

Moni/Laceys Mom-That great you made a committment
to the treadmill. Keep up the good work. I have an ankle
problem so a treadmill is out for now.

Violet- Good to know you are enjoying Curves. It is a good
workout in a short amount of time!

Nancy-Glad you are enjoying the water exercises. I just found out
about Ai Chi water therapy. There are dvds and a book if
no classes locally.

Water exercise varies greatly with the instructor. You want one who isn't afraid to push everyone. Too often the sweet young things see a bunch of grey heads and assume we can't do anything but slow arthritis movements.

You want to get the heart rate up and sustained for 20 minutes at least. Also you want to work all muscle groups and use water bar bells and other strength devices.

Fortunately my current instructor is studying to be a nurse so has no qualms about pushing us, using shallow water and deep water, bar bells, noodles and just plain high intensity movements to keep us going. Like anything, it's what you put into it that counts.

I hate to sweat so water exercise and swimming are for me, I'm already wet.
