I was wondering; seems we have more than a few artistic members here on the board. But I have a hard time keeping track of who is who, and an even harder time tracking down thier artwork (Sheepie oriented or not). So I thought one of two things... If anyone here is an artist, and would care to share their work (especially of our fluffy pals) they could post a link to their website or image hosting site here. If not, maybe some would consider getting a Deviant Art site. I just got one a few weeks back, and am pleased with how easy it is, and they offer a free membership service. the link is www.deviantart.com I'll post a link to my own just as soon as I load up some Sheepie sketches!!!! |
|
I love Deviant Art. I also love that they have a free option now. It used to be that to get all the good features, you had to pay for everything but they've really opened it up now. |
My website is right under my signature in my postings. Also, if you go to the links in Community pages, it is there too. |
I am so glad you did this!!! I would love to see all the artwork of the forum members!!!!! |
Mine is in the www thingy |
Wow Jean! I really loved looking through your gallery! You digital artists amaze me!!!!
A question; what are your "art trading cards"? Did you do them to trade with other artists? Are they for a trading card set? I'm curious, as they didn't look like what I expected (baseball players and movie properties are the trading cards I'm used to!) |
wendy58 wrote: My website is right under my signature in my postings. Also, if you go to the links in Community pages, it is there too.
Wendy; you are totally inspiring me to go and draw sheepdogs!!! |
I love using prismacolor and sheepdogs...makes a great combination. I used to do a lot of B&W portraits too...we shall see where my talents takes me on the second half of my life.
Your art is pretty superhero/sci fi amazing too!!!! |

WOW, you leave us all at the starting gate, your work is wonderful Most of those atc's were done for a challenge at an art site where most are by traditional means., they do trade them but I just like to paint at that size and am not into trading. I have done a bit of graphite and am thinking of trying watercolour, Now that should be a mess Here's a site you might be interested in http://www.art-e-zine.co.uk/atcnov03.html |

Your art is pretty superhero/sci fi amazing too!!!! ugh; I forgot that my website was at the www thingie on my post. I hate that site; it really needs re-doing. And sorry about all the super hero stuff; I know its not everyone's tastes... I just got a deviant site; I wasn't going to post a link til I got some OES art done. But if you are looking at my website; my deviant is more recent and less Heroic: www.allisonsohn.deviantart.com |
YAY Darth thanks for coming up with this great idea. I love looking at everyones art work |
Great idea. I make jewelry - not anything OES though. Website is www at bottom.
Some of you are really great artists. Love seeing your work. |
I love deviantart too but havent posted anything on there in years!!! I had it for storage purposes when I was an illustration student at RIT.
the site's here http://slaplore.deviantart.com/ My work nowadays are more fine arts- I paint more than illustrate. ...and im not 23 anymore. heh Im just too lazy to update my profile. |
and i love the fact there are talented artists on this forum!!
i just need to paint a sheepie picture to fit in:) |
I put a few pics up: http://elissahaden.deviantart.com/ |

Amen. I had people insisting I "needed" a deviant art site for years. But the idea of having one more thing to update was very not encouraging. Well I broke down when one of Adam's editors wanted to link to Adam on there before a big trade show we just finished up. So I figured if Adam was to be there, so would i. But its kind of depressing. In the 2 weeks our deviant sites have been up, Adam's gotten nearly 100,000 page views, and I'm almost at 1,500. Sigh. |

I'm with you! I've been saying since I got the girls back in December that I was going to start drawing them. Just as soon as I get my latest deadline behind me.... |

Some of you are really great artists. Love seeing your work. Your jewelry is quite beautiful! I attended a jewelry wholesale show over a year ago, and bought a bunch of semi-precious stones I thought I would string, and never did. But all those loose stones are so pretty, sparkely and inspiring! |
I am just learning to do the website...I swear I am too old for all this. I can't even figure out the deviant art thingie...although I have always been a bit deviant. |
wendy58 wrote: I am just learning to do the website...I swear I am too old for all this. I can't even figure out the deviant art thingie...although I have always been a bit deviant.
I had to have a friend show me how to do Deviant Art... and its much easier than Myspace. I swear I almost chuck my computer out the window anytime I need to do anything on Myspace. |
I have a bunch of altered art items posted in my photos. Web site was too much for me to create at the time. |
Stacy...I don't know what altered art is...duh! But I did notice you have some scrapbooking in there. I do that too...when I get a chance...and I have some Hannukah pages too!!! |

Ive been having a hard time motivating myself to stay in my studio and paint. I admire those who can come home from work and find the energy and time to do art! |
100,000 views in two weeks! Wow!
That's amazing... thats not that many fewer than oes.org! Well, actually a bit less than half, but... holy moly!!!! oes.org needs a link from there!!! |
london wrote: I admire those who can come home from work and find the energy and time to do art!
Art IS work for me. Its part of what I do for a living these days. Whats hard for me is to finish my days 'work" and then find the desire to draw stuff that I want to... like Sheepies. But I know what you mean. I couldn't get my mini-art career off the ground until I finally said good-bye to my day-job. It was too exhausting to work 40 hours and then continue to hone my craft in my "off hours". |
Ron wrote: 100,000 views in two weeks! Wow!

I don't know if I can link from Deviant Art, but I probably could from Adam's regular webpage. I'll PM you a link; you should probably look at the content first, and decide if you want OES.org affiliated with it!!!! |
okay; so this piece isn't from a group member, but I thought it could go okay in this thread. I got it this past weekend from an artist I found on Deviant Art and I picked it up from her at a comic book convention in Canada.
Ta-Da! Tonks and Luna by Agnes Garbowska |
Very cute...cartoons are a lot harder than people think. |
wendy58 wrote: Very cute...cartoons are a lot harder than people think.
I agree about the hardness aspect of it. I always admire and seek out the sort of cartoony images; its something I can't even wrap my brain around trying to create! |
Awwwww....very sweet!! |
Agnes did such a good job; I have a little photo album of the dogs that I travel with, and she used it to pick up little details like the fact that they love thier doggy-bagels from Einstein Bagel; and that they would rather play with each other than come when I call them...
if you look at the left side, there's a tiny little me back there calling them, and they are ignoring me! |
oky; gonna revive this thread a bit...
I fianlly did some sketches of my girls. I told Wendy that I would, it just took me longer to get to it than I had hoped. These are just rough first attempts; so no chuckling out loud please. First some warm up pencils: then a first attempt at something in color; this is Luna: |
Wow, those are fantastic! |
Awesome Allison!!!! Is that a watercolor...or is it the favored markers? You have to teach me how to use those things...I love them!!!!! |
Fantastic!!!!! |
Nice drawings, and nice tongue!
Kewl. |
thanks guys; yes those are my infamous Copic markers.
I figured we had to have the tongue. My guys never have them inside their mouths. |
Cool. I just bought some Prismacolor art markers...I want to try them and see how I do. They seem to have a similar look to the ones you use.
You do awesome work Allison!!!! Bravo |
I am absolutely in AWE of the talent on this board. These are really amazing Alison!! I wish I had a thimble full of your talent. |
Everyones art looks great but...... Alison yours our fantastice
love this one |
That is very nice, Allison. I really like sketches like that. |
okay; reviving an old thread here. It took me a while to find it. But this past weekend we were in New York City for a comic book convention, and it happened to coincide with my and Luna's Birthdays. So some friends of ours that were traveling with us commissioned an artist at the show to do a drawing of Luna for me!! I know its very stylized, but I LOVE it!!! We joke that Luna's one blue eye is her "Crazy Eye", and her hair always seems to part, revealing that one eye. The artist noticed it in the photos my friends gave him, and I really think he captured her beautifully!!!
|
That's kinda funky! What size is it and where will you put it? |
I like it |
Its pretty big; I think about 11 by 14. I think I may try and hide a good deal of the white of the paper when I mat it, and try and bring the overall framed size down a little.
I have three pieces of art now that feature Tonks, Luna, or both of them. I think once I frame them, they will either go into the new guest room (already adorned with a couple of sheepdog cross-stitched pillows), my bedroom, or my art studio. Maybe I should hang them in the grooming room/mudroom when its completed? I also have a cabinet in our guest bathroom that has sheepdog themed things in it, but I hesitate to hang original art in a bathroom. |
I tend to be drawn to realistic art, but I found your cartooned girl with the "freaky" eye hilarious!!!
Very fun! |
Were you at the ComicCon show at the Pier last weekend in NYC?
If you would like to meet up with a fellow sheepie lover in NYC the next time you come, let me know. I am almost always in the city on the weekends (museums, walks, etc) and would love to get together. Kathie |

There's a competing event next October, that seems to be run much better than this one. I think we'll be going to that. But we sometimes find ourselves in NYC between shows, on business. DC Comics is there, and we use it as an excuse to go in. Maybe an OES play date in Central Park? My girls would have to stay home, but I'd love to get photos of everyones Dogs and meet everybody!!! |
love the luna art!!!! I would buy that than some realistic sheepie art that I normally see at gift shops:) |

That's adorable and it totally something I would actually hang up. You don't happen to have the artist's info, do you? Was it expensive? It would be fun to have a little triptych for my office. |

Yeah; I want to commission him to do a Tonks eventually. He does mainly comic book and animation style stuff, and it maybe tough to get him to do more dogs. When my friends asked, he said he wasn't into pet art, but my obsession with Tonks and Luna is pretty well known in our little community, so he agreed. He also said he shares my passion but with his own dog (I think its a French Bulldog) so was very understanding of the pet-passion. But its TOTALLY worth asking him. His name is Chris Uminga; on Facebook he is: http://www.facebook.com/allison.sohn?re ... 946&ref=mf His website is: http://www.CUMINGA.com and on Twitter he is: http://twitter.com/Uminga720 good luck; I hope you get your tryptich;I'd love to see his depiction of Bear especially!!! |
I'm also not into pet art and will express that if I end up contacting him. It is exactly the non-pet art part that I like so much about it! |
ButtersStotch wrote: I'm also not into pet art and will express that if I end up contacting him. It is exactly the non-pet art part that I like so much about it!
I know; its so cool, right? When you see his gallery of artwork, you'll see how I thought his illustrations would be perfect to capture Luna's "crazy eye". |

Another reason we get along so well!!! I ADORE Invader Zim!!! |
Next time you do Comic con here...give me warning so we can come and meet up!!!! Miss you!!!
Invader Zim rocks!!! |
Lenore will always be my favorite, though. I have a 12" doll that sits next to our bed at night. I like the idea of feeling secure, yet creeped out my her prescence. |

THATS IT; Wendy Jill and I are going to do Comic Con next year; that's the only answer to this!!!! Wendy; Adam and my yearly work schedule LITERALLY revolves around Comic Con; once I get the dates, I'll let you know what they are and we can get together! But buy passes soon if you want to go; even though its in July, I hear the 4-day pass is already in danger of selling out. |
I will have to dig out my Sheepdog paintings. Haven't done anything lately work is crazy busy. My job is actually artistic as well but in the video game area. Not a bad gig |
spacegirl21 wrote: I will have to dig out my Sheepdog paintings. Haven't done anything lately work is crazy busy. My job is actually artistic as well but in the video game area. Not a bad gig
I remember you giving us a link once to your company's sight; it was super cool! I think at the time you had just finished working on a beach volley ball game; or am I mis-remembering? Adam is quite the video game geek, so I try to keep track of this stuff. He just finished Uncharted 2, which he loved. |
I just completed a new piece of Sheepdog themed artwork. I'm trying to help organize a fund raising ebay auction for our local OES rescue. I've put the call out to local businesses and artists we know, asking for donations. We've gotten some nice pieces of artwork so far, and are hoping more arrives this coming week.
This is my piece, finished (?) this afternoon: This is from a friend's daughter. She saw my email request for artists to donate, so sat right down and drew this. She was literally our first piece of art in, about 4 hours after I sent out my request: Our own Wendy Allen donated this lovely seasonally themed Sheepie! |
One of two Christmas stockings that have been donated:
A sketch by artist James Lyle (taken from one of my photos): and the final inked version of James' piece, called "the Messenger": |
Wow wonderful pieces! Hmmmm.... I think Bally would like one of those stockings |
I really like the one that the kid did. Tell her to leave the tail off next time! Hee hee. |
ButtersStotch wrote: I really like the one that the kid did. Tell her to leave the tail off next time! Hee hee.
I LOVE that piece! And its funny; one of the rescue folks that works doing placement has a tailed sheepdog and was adamant that one of the artists use a sheepdog with a tail as subject matter. So when Scarlet's piece came in, and came in first, I was like "there's your piece of art with a tail!" |
Very cute stuff...good luck with the fundraiser!! Sheepies will love you all for it! |
Beautiful work!!
Will you let us know when it starts? |
6Girls wrote: Beautiful work!!

Nice |
Well, my plan was to start the Ebay auctions tomorrow. So of course, all my artists are sending their work in to me today. Lovely bunch of procrastinators! In all seriousness, in the past 2 days I've received some wonderful new pieces. I've uploaded several and will post when they get approved. And provided OESRNSE get me their ebay password in time, the auctions will be live some time tomorrow. Once they are up, I'll post a link! |
Hey, you have mine! I am rarely a procrastinator...I am surrounded by them in my house. Sigh! |
some more of our donations; I still have more to photograph....
|
|
You got some fun stuff, Alison! |
got sheep wrote: You got some fun stuff, Alison!
there's still a small trickle of things coming in. I got a piece of art emailed when I logged onto my computer this morning, and Adam's piece is still on the drawing table. I know of few others that are going to work righ tup until I start loading the auctions this evening... I got all the necessary ebay information for our rescue, so the auctions WILL be going up tonight. I'll probably start around 7pm. |
Darth Snuggle wrote: Oh, whoever did these did an awesome job!! |

Could you post the links to the auctions when they are up? And will they include overseas postage? ...just in case |
Hint of Mischief wrote: Could you post the links to the auctions when they are up? And will they include overseas postage? ...just in case
I will be sure to post a link! It would be unfair to show all this stuff here, and then not let you know when the actual auctions happen. And seeing as there has been some interest expressed by overseas folks, we will be doing shipping to include you all! |
As much as I hate to admit it, I'm not at all surprised to announce that we are having "technical difficulties" with our ebay account. Once we get it all straightened out, I'll be able to list the ebay auctions, and will post a link here!
Sorry for the delay! |
something to look forward to tomorrow |
well it all seems to be working now. But I will list tomorrow evening all the same. I like to set up the auctions to end at a time when people are more likely to be home to check their computers; so usually between 7pm and 11pm. Weekends are really ideal to start and end auctions, but I don't want to wait for the next weekend. My plan is to get these items out to people in time to be given as gifts for the holidays. So I don't want to waste any more time than necessary. |
well it took literally from 7pm until 11pm, but all the auctions are up! You can see them either by searching for seller id: oesrescuenetwork, or by following this link...
http://shop.ebay.com/oesrescuenetwork/m ... ksid=p3686 enjoy! ~Allison |
Allison, is there any way for you to put the size of the original art pieces in the auction info? |
HeatherRWM wrote: Allison, is there any way for you to put the size of the original art pieces in the auction info?
I put it in for the ones where I knew it. A good number of the artists sent me digital files, as they were running late. Let me know which one you need the size on, and I can try and find out and add it to the auction, as well as post it here. |
I had, and forgot to put the measurements to Wendy Allen's piece in her auction. I just updated it to show that it is already matted, measures 11 by 14 inches, comes with a certificate of authenticity, and is titled "let is snow".
Thanks for donating such a wonderful piece, Wendy, and for being only one of two artist to get me their work before the auctions started! (I'm not counting Adam and myself). |
I was looking at the one by Buzz, any idea on the size? |
HeatherRWM wrote: I was looking at the one by Buzz, any idea on the size?

Buzz is a SWEET-heart of a guy, too. We do have some plans for some of the art after the auctions. To reproduce, we have to first get the artists permission (most have said yes) and we have to be sure that no copyrights are infringed. For example; we could not reproduce Adam Hughes' piece, as its a play on and features Catwoman, while also featuring the Catwoman logo and DC Comics' logos. Both of which are trademarked. Adam and I talked about this when he was deciding what to draw; should he do a piece that the rescue could reprint and make revenue off of over a long period, or should he go with something his fans would like, and could potentially bring in a big dollar amount sale at auction? We decided to go for the short term earnings over the long. Knowing that other artists had provided pieces that would make the rescue money in printed form over the long term, Adam felt comfortable going the other route. |

Great auction all around! Great effort putting it together Allison. All of the art is terrific. thanks! Its been a bit tough to do, and still try and get my regular work done. But its SO worth it! I have a few stragglers bringing me more auction items today; so those will go up tonight. I'm hoping the gift baskets do well; they're REALLY nice. Poor Tonks and Luna were drooling, and not understanding why they weren't getting anything from them!!! |

I'm pleased that it seems to be taking off. When I approached it, I thought even if we can raise enough to get just one dog vetted (brought up to date on shots and or spayed/neutered) it would be worth it. Hopefully, with several days left and still a few more items to be listed (I got the cutest hand made scarf donated tonight) we'll be able to care for more dogs than that! |

Now don't forget to tell us when there are prints available |
I'm so happy with the piece I got! One of the coolest fundraisers I've seen in a while, great job! |
I got a new commissioned piece of artwork featuring Tonks and Luna in the mail this week! The artist did such a great job; the piece is cut paper that he then went ahead and painted onto as well. I'm thrilled with the results! |
I love it! It's adorable! |
Pretty cute- they are cartoon dogs! |
That is really nice! |
well; I got two more pieces of Tonks and Luna art at a comic book convention this past weekend. Chris Uminga who was nice enough to do a portrait of Luna last October did one for me this weekend of Tonks. And another talented friend did a piece featuring both girls. As soon as the images are approved I'll post them! |
those are great. now I want a portrait of my pupper. I am sooooooo jealous. |
Adorable!! |
Those are both awesome Allison! Who is the artist on the second one? The style reminds me of a favorite cartoon of ours, called "Two Lumps"(The characters in 2 Lumps are cats) |
the second artist is Katie Cook; you can find her work here: http://katiecandraw.typepad.com/ |
Those are really cute!! I want one of my woofies now too!!!! |
Both Chris and Katie have pretty reasonable prices. You should drop them a line if you are interested in getting a portrait of your own dogs! |
Both of those are very nice! Love the different styles! |
I got another commission done of Tonks and Luna; this time as little plush toys! I'll post the photo when its approved. Also, two weeks ago at the San Diego Comic Con I began soliciting artists for our second Holiday season Ebay auction. So hopefully I'll have a new bunch of art for you all to enjoy come November. And lastly, I had a computer crash a few months ago, and had to get a new machine. The full resolution digital files of last year's auction art is still stuck on my old hard drive. but I'm hoping to get it all off this weekend and prep it to go to the rescue's Cafe Press store. So hopefully there will be some good stuff online soon! |
okay- I haven't added anything to my Sheepdog art collection recently, and this just showed up on Ebay. I'm wondering if I have the financial stamina to win it: http://cgi.ebay.com/LYNN-JOHNSTON-Origi ... 500wt_1413 I sort of feel like my collection has to have one of these!!! But is this the one? |
