We froze 109 bags of corn today. Family was here to help husk, and we had a great time. The guys also baled hay again. It was a nice day. I used Grandma's old pot and a couple of her sharp knives. Seemed like she was with us at times, as we cut the corn from the cobs and bagged it for the freezer. Mom, my sister , nieces and my best friend were all in the kitchen, laughing and working. "Dinner" was fried chicken, fresh green beans, tomato's , cucumbers, mashed potatoes and of course, corn on the cob. 19 of us ate ourselves silly. Life is good. |

Quote: I want to know if any pirates were there, because I want to know how much to charge a pirate for corn. I'm thinking a buccaneer, but that might be too much.
I didn't see that coming - and it actually made me guffaw. I needed a good guffaw 109 cobs of corn, wow, that's a good days work - and your dinner - sounds delicious! Corn is definitely a thing I love about summer (and blueberries, love blueberries). |

You have to cook the corn and take it off o the cob to freeze! Yummy stuff! I am going to be in Ohio in 2 weeks!!! Where is Marysville????? |
Oh Lori you made me long for my days of childhood. Nothing is like corn picked fresh from the garden. My Mom was raised on a farm in Vermont and my Dad always had a huge garden as he grew up too, so as I grew up we always had a huge garden, out in our backyard and my elderly neighbors. I hated weeding the strawberrys at high noon, but the corn and everything else soooo goood!
Since we've been in Florida, we've grown our own bananas and now our one pineapple will be picked and eaten today. lol Thanks for the memories! |
Sounds like a perfect day! |
What a lovely sounding day that was and bet your dinner was just delicious |

Nothing better - we have someone in the neighborhood with a wagon full of fresh tomatoes every afternoon and scale to weigh with a can to throw in your money. I love tomato sandwiches or just eat it like an apple with plenty of salt. My other fav sandwich is a grilled hotdog with everything - I love summer food. |
