The official SheepieFest!5 announcement

Can't believe this our half-decade anniversary!

SheepieFest!5 will be October 4 in Shoe Factory Forest Preserve Grove #2 (same as last year) in Elgin or Hoffman Estates, IL. I can’t tell which town the forest preserve is. It will start at 9 am (that’s when I have to be there as the permit holder) and end (probably) between 4 and 5 pm. I will provide 2 Subway 3 foot subs (one turkey, one veggie) and everyone else can bring something to share. We usually have TONS of food.

The popular silent auction will be held, so let Debcram or me know if you have items to donate. There will also be a raffle and a donations jar for those who don’t want to buy anything but want to donate. Proceeds will go to rescue.

The forest preserve is off I90. Exit at Route 59, go south for about one mile and the forest preserve will be on your right. (If you’re coming from the west, south is to your right, from the east, south is to your left).

There is a huuuuuuge area for the dogs to go off leash and run.

October 5 will be a herding “assessment” in Wisconsin, close enough to drive to. MadDog is our point person so direct any questions to her.

Let me know if you need “pet friendly” motel info.

Hope to see faces from last year, and meet new friends this year!!!!!!

YIPPEE!!!! My family is very excited!!!! Tony and Keira are going to stay home this year and have a daddy and doggie date. Keira says, she don't need to hang with no stinkin' sheepies! But my daughter (who is an official rescue transportor) will there handling Pirate, and I'll be with Lizzie, who will be making her debut.

If you can, please help us with auction/raffle items, because we are going to have big surprise regarding the proceeds.

Feel free to email me with any questions.

ITS ALL ABOUT THE SHEEPIES!!!

I CAN'T WAIT!!!! Something to be excited about again! This was the most fun I had last year.
I'm thinking about getting a Hackney's gift certificate to donate, so someone new can experience DA ONYUM LOAF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the forest preserve was closer to Hackneys, I bring a couple loaves with me

do the proceeds from the silent auction go to any of the OES rescues, or is it to help keep the Sheepie Fest going?
SheepieFest! keeps NOTHING! Everything we raise goes to rescue. Infact, any monies that are spent (on food, drink, paperplates, permits, printing...ANYTHING) come out of the SheepieFest! goers pockets.

There is no admission fee...and no pressure to donate or bid.

It started out just as a way for sheepdog owners to get together...bring your dog, bring your spouse, bring your kids, bring your food and in Nita's case, bring your Waterford crystal and good scotch!

SheepieFest is NOT affliated with any OES group, club or rescue. We are just a bunch of sheepdog owners pleadging to have a fun day, if we raise alittle and send it to rescue, that's a bonus!.
It was decided it was not necessary to drink Scotch out of Waterford crystal, so Nita isn't bringing her Waterford!

Nope, SheepieFest! makes absolutely no money, because SheepieFest! is just sheepie lovers. We are not an official group. Except officially nuts.
I know Kissy is smiling down....we had talked about coming this
year so she could meet her special man!
:(
I bet she will talk to the big guy for you all to have a
lovely day for a picnic!!!!

I hope my question didn't offend anyone; it wasn't meant to. I assumed any money made went to rescue; but in this crazy world, its never good to assume anything....

I do want to donate one or two things, even though the girls and I won't be in attendance. So I'll be in touch soon.

You certainly did not offend us! We don't offend easily. When people ask me about the SheepieFest! Organization, I have to laugh. It just us people who sorta plan, usually at the last minute. The "planning committee" is a few people who get together at a favorite restaurant, and mostly eat and drink, and do very little planning

And everything is so lax, I bet between Paula and I, we spend outta pocket a few hundred dollars each year! We had one person who bid on a more expensive item last year, only to realize she was about $50 short with the money she had, so I threw it in. And I don't know about anyone else, but I have never used the money as a tax deduction. I get so much joy from the day, that is my reward!

It would be wonderful if you could all join us one day. We have always been blessed with wonderful weather, during the event. And Kathy, Kissy will be mentioned. I always start with a thank you to our lovies at the bridge, who have given us a delightful day.
I received an email from Grannie Annie. For those of you who don't know who Grannie Annie is...well she's the head of New England Old English Sheepdog rescue, and a wonderful human being!!! We all love her to bits!

She wanted me to know (and now I want all of you to know) that they have put a SheepieFest!5 link on their rescure site www.neoesr.org

Stop by and take a look!
FANTASTIC! Thank you, Annie!
I had to beg, borrow and plead but I have the weekend off so we will be there.

Kristine, is Sunday still on for sheep testing?(you know what I mean)
That is WONDERFUL news! You will have a great time! And I"m so looking forward to meeting you!!!

We brought Simon and Doreen's Barkley.
 I get confused with who's who on the forum. So, let me rephrase...

IT WILL BE WONDERFUL TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!!!!

Coming from St. Clair Shores, Michigan, is there any chance some one could throw up a Mapquest Link showing where SheepieFest is at :?:

The maps I'm lookinging at don't show Shoe Factory Forest Preserve Grove #2 anywhere.

Oh, boy am I asleep at the wheel of late! Sorry, Pam

Yes, the Wisconsin OES club is sponsoring a herding clinic/instinct testing at noon on Sunday (Oct 5)

The premiums are now available. If you PM me an e-mail address I can send you one (goes for anyone interested) though I am going to ask to have it put up on the performance oes website as well.

Will post the link if so.

For those of you who are SheepieFest Veterans:

What is your best estimate as to how money OES' will actually be at SheepieFest?
Image

Image

Ricky & Rose
Best guestimate is a min. 30 dogs (what do you think, Deborah, Paula?) That may change depending on how many I bring with me

We have some new people coming this year from the sound of it. A rescue dog I placed who is looking forward to seeing her sister, Deb's Lizzie, again. And hopefully a "nephew" of mine (OK, of Mad's) and his family who I can barely wait to see again (Jill - are you coming? He and Owen share some characteristics in the shark department  ). I mentioned Sheepiefast at the WI Club meeting this past week and some of the club members who had never heard of it before also expressed in interest.

Deb - are we supposed to be signing up or something?? Do we have to declare who we're bringing? Looks like I may have another baby boy foster around that time. I almost always have girls. What is it about this time of year? 8)

Oh, and don't forget the herding instinct testing the following day. I should have the premium online by this afternoon (though one fears it won't be pretty due to my less than astounding technical skills  ). Or PM me your e-mail address and I can send it to you in PDF form.

We have four dogs actually signed up so far, with more inquiries, and that's just in the first four days since I put the info out there. Very cool.

Very envious of all that nice water. Got Sheep/Dawn called me this morning and had me watch her and Chewie in the dog pool up where she trains on webcam. It looked so relaxing.

We have water here too, but only the kind that's been pouring out of the sky for three days now. That IKE is pretty far-reaching.

Kristine
We've had anywhere from 14-45 pups (non sheepies included) at SheepieFest! Last year was our biggest.

Kristine...nope, no sign up...just show ups. I'll be there around 1 pm..I have to work in the morning, but I think darling Paula will be there much earlier.

Bring food...any kind...it will be eaten. And anyone bringing things for the auction THANK YOU! I'm going to bring a basket with some stuff, and we add depending on what we get, for a raffle prize. I also have another already done basket for another raffle prize.

I'm just bringin Liz and Pirate...Keira is (happily) staying at home with Dad.

I can't believe its just around the corner!!! Woo Hoo!!!!

Its all about the sheepies...after all!!!!
Again, the highlight of my year! I can't wait. Steve and I can come earlier to help set up as well. :D
OK, it ain't pretty, but my first attempts at playing with a website myself, so pay no attention to the um, imperfections, please. Did it up mostly to put the herding info online, plus you can find the link to sheepiefest there.

Kristine
Kristine, "Embrace the madness" I LOVE THAT!!!!!!!!!!

You did great! Thank you a million times!

I will be at the pic-a-nic grove at 9am since I am the "holder of the permit." So come anytime after 9. The day typically ends between 4 and 5pm--most uprights are completely wiped out.

No official registration is necessary but either PM me or put notice here how many uprights you are bringing. I will order Subway sandwiches accordingly, (one turkey and if need be, one veggie). In past years we've barbequed, but there's so much food that we dropped that last year. As Deborah said, just bring something to share. I'll get ice. I'm sure Stacey has enough cups, plates, napkins and utensils!

And as always, non-sheepies (or in my case, no sheepies, but I will borrow Lizzie this year) are welcome!

Last weekend we had a record 9 inches of rain. If God forbid that happens October 4, we will cancel. I will post any cancellation notices here. We've always had wonderful weather so let's hope our lucky streak continues.
We will be there and I don't want anyone to be shocked....so with that in mind I am bringing Simon and "The Wild Man"(Garfunkel) and a muzzle. He has this REALLY bad habit of biting, nipping other dogs butts as he's running/chasing with them. This has caused problems in the past and I want this to be a happy day...hence the muzzle.

I think(Kristine?) this is part of his herding instinct.

Yup. Though there's a time to use force including a nip if need be, and a time...not to.

In his case it's inappropriate (obviously), probably comes out of frustration from his incredibly high prey drive. It's going to be interesting to see him on sheep. Do warn Shannon about that.

Of course, Liz was similarly rude when playing with other dogs. Not with her teeth but with body slamming. I warned Shannon and Liz walked into the arena, saw the sheep and heeled nicely by my side   :P

She pretty much outgrew the rudeness. Of course, she's almost eight now...

Kristine
New announcement! Thanks to Kristine and Jan, we will have some agility equipment set up for the pups to play on and give it a try! And, thanks to Kathi, Kristine and Jan, they will be setting up a rally course for anyone to try.

This is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool!!!!!!!!!
A mini agility course...depending on what Jan's trailer can fit and what is safe, but, yes, things to play on :D

Just a note: any male dog caught peeing on my agility pause table must donate $5 to the rescue organization of the organizer's choice. Any male dog caught peeing on my yellow tunnel will pay $10  :P  - same as above

Any girl dogs caught peeing on either, let me know and I'll find them a good doggie shrink 8)

As Deborah note, Kathi McBride has generously offered to help. She does agility and is aces with a clicker... :D

If you have one, clicker that is, please bring it. Also bring small, soft treats of your dog's choice for training purposes. I usually have extra but that really depends on whether or not Sybil gets to my training bag first...

OK, so now to watch the weather...very exciting.

Oh, and I'll have an update on the herding instinct testing by tomorrow.

Stay tuned... 8)

Kristine
I can't make it but will wish for a no rain day for everyone. I guess I missed something what rescue gets the funds this year?/Do you pick a different rescue each year?? Just curious :?
In the past, we've given NEOESR our proceeds. They do such wonderful work, and help so many rescues.

This year, we are targeting a smaller, more needy rescue. It is going to sort of be a surprise for the recipient...so we aren't making any announcements. But, please believe...it is a rescue that has made miracles for our beloved sheepies, yet gets very little recognition.

It will be sort of thrilling when I get to make the announcement at SheepieFest!

Anyone who wants to make a donation, but can't attend Sheepiefest! please pm me. The St. Louis Sheepdog Club has already made a generous donation...THANK YOU VAL!!!!

Please remember...IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SHEEPIES!!!!!

Some of you may have been reading about the 11 yo brother and sister, who's owners passed. They are with a neighbor, but the neighbors cannot keep them.

Rescue has found a home for them in Canada. Can you imagine how wonderful it is that these seniors have a new home?

But now,we must get them to Canada.

Is anyone from Michigan or Canada planning on attending SheepieFest!? If you are and are willing to help transport these "kids" please contact me.

Thanks!
How wonderful :D Now I really wish I had a lear jet so I can hear the announcment.....

This is one great community! Thank you!
There is a group known as pilots-N-paws that do help fly rescues that a ground transport cannot be done Visit the site and see the regulations. Maybe this will help get these old sheepies home

It really is a wonderful story. :D :D :D

Now, who out there among you very experienced OES owners wants a adopt a nine month old project rescue puppy bitch?

Wanted: performance minded, structured, naturally self-assured owner who won't put up with anything from insecure missy who has delusions of grandeur, resource guarding issues with other dogs, including trying to hoarde "owner" (foster mom) - she keeps going after her foster mom's 13 year old bitch, but gets along OK with her younger male and a 5 mos old puppy dog (boy) with no manners - and needs a lot of exercise. She's very needy and actually rather submissive to people. From what I gather her former home was not exactly an ideal environment in that her owner and she fed off of each other's neediness.

She's coming to my house for boot camp from the looks of it and I hope to bring her to sheepiefest and the herding clinic with me where I will be recruiting men to meet and greet her bearing cookies and we'll be working on basic manners.

Her name is Daphne. Stop by and say hi if you're at either event as she needs the socialization.

Kristine
Herding update.

We have 14 dogs signed up with several more inquiries over the weekend so I'm thinking we may fill. (There is a limit of 25 dogs)
For those of you who have already signed up or are planning on coming, with or without instinct testing anyone, please PM me so I can get a head count to the club member in charge of putting together some food for the event. (That's for the people attending, not the dogs - sorry Sybil! )

For more information about the herding instinct testing see http://home.netcom.com/~kbloland/embracethemadness/ and go to Herding Clinic link. PM me with your e-mail address for a premium if you're interested in entering. Otherwise the directions and times and so on are all on the website. There is no fee to just come and hang out and watch. It should be a fun day. Fingers crossed for two days of nice weather :D

Latest weekend weather update (but we know it can change in a moment): upper 60s, maybe hit 70, sunny! :yay:

The silent auction is a go--if anyone has anything to donate, please bring it. It doesn't have to be sheepie or even dog-related. Last year I donated my wedding ring (I'm divorced, don't worry!). The first year Deborah and Tony donated a television that Tony won at work. But we're not asking for jewelry or tvs. One year there was a bidding war for a gift certificate. Deborah (with my very limited assistance) is putting together 2 gift baskets for raffles.

Deborah started this because, as she told me, she wanted to have a day where people and dogs could get together and make friends. A day that doesn't cost anything. If you can bring something, even a bottle of pop share, that's great. But if you can't afford anything, that's great too. These are some tough times for a lot of people and those of us who can, will. Because once upon a time, somebody did for me, so I'm paying it back.

I wanna break last year's attendance record, so get your butts (2 legged and 4 legged) to SheepieFest!5.
Breaking rules here to double post. We have a new member, Moon Ray's Mom, who wants to come to SheepieFest! but needs to stay overnight and is looking to share a motel room. Anyone need a roommate for Saturday night? Please post or send her a PM.
I can't wait!!!! It's what's gotten me through another year :D

In addition to some Altered Art items with the official SheepieFest logo, I have two additional fun unused items for the raffle. I'm hoping someone could use a bread maker and a nice picnic basket with nice silverware inside :D
My angels want to wish you all the best sunny day!!!!!!!!
Nita has been asked to give Pirate and Deb a HUGE hug
from Mommy in Paw Kathy!
Kissy will certainly be there in spirit.....
Please enjoy your day!

Kathy, what a beautiful picture.

Its close enough now, that the weather report should be pretty close to acurate...so...we are looking at:

Or she can live vicariously through pictures and look forward to seeing you and Pirate and Lizzie at Sheepiepalooza in spring. It's five hours going that way too   (I think Val is still recovering from MN this time around)

On a more serious note, if anyone is coming who needs a hands on sheepdog fix my resident 9-10 mos old foster (a handful and a half) will need on and off babysitters all day long. People can share her. She is the neediest dog I have ever met, even by sheepdog standards. She's undersocialized, so can be shy at first greeting. She needs a very calm, physically and mentally strong person (she does a remarkable imitation of a kangaroo if you don't make her stop) who wouldn't mind calmly introducing her around, or at least let her check out the sights and sounds and smells at her own pace.

Ideally, she belongs in an agility home. But since they don't grow on trees in this breed, at least someone who loves a training challenge, isn't embarrassed to be owned by a dog who is smarter than they are and who has the patience of a saint.

But for Saturday she just wants to meet lots of people and hang out and feel like she's part of the "in" crowd. You know, an OES

Kristine
I always want to go to Sheepiepalooza, but its always when we are in, or just returning from Key West.

Kristine...where do I do to register for Sunday's herding stuff?
Kristine, I will take care of your needy foster.

Deborah, I have about 50 blank raffle tickets so no need to buy.

At this point, I'm going to order a 3 foot turkey sub which should yield about 30 sammiches (on the small side). Do I need to order a second one?
Paula, its so difficult to say, since we really never get rsvps to know how many to expect. I do think 1 will be alright...since there will be other food.

I'm still trying to figure out what to bring. I have some chips, but that's not much.

Think we can get a pizza place to deliver to the forest preserve?

YeP!!!!!! That was one of the best vacations I have had!! Only I needed a vacation from the vacation to recoup from all the go-go-going!!!!!!

I would really love to come, but since I almost just got back from Nationals, Dino would probably take the dogs and leave me if I left again sooo soon!!!!

Deborah... I think we need the Illinois contingent to be stronger at Sheepiepalooza!!!! You and Paula need to come on down and have some MISSOURI sheepie fun in May of 09!!!!!!!!!

Oh I do wish I could get out for this (maybe next year) - please say hi to Kathi for me. Marley and I will be herding on Sunday and maybe I can get some pictures for her.
We also have Stacy and Steve, Nita, my daughter and me...and I'm sure untold thousands of others!!!

I sure hope our twins come
I remember somemore!!!! A woman Stephanie from Gurnee is coming with her pup Winston, and Paulette and Adrian who have Lizzie's sister, Maggie.

I think I'll bring a cheese tray and crackers, unless I get a better idea!

Oh yes...I'll be making goodie bags too!
Kathi mentioned something about some friends coming. No numbers though.

Hey, kiddo - she and I both need directions for dummies. And I do mean down to the last blade of grass we pass before we take that left on...

Well, you know what I mean.

Last year she and I got lost in different directions and spent 30 minutes on the phone with each other in hopes that one of us would spot a sheepdog or something

We are not gifted in this way. Help!

Kristine, what interstate will you be taking from Wisconsin--90 or 94? I'm pretty good at providing directions.
She's taking 94...cuz that's what I'm taking, and I wanna steal the directions
I heard from Ricardo and Rose, so that is 2 more...so far we have 19 confirmed!!!!!!!!!!
Paula, how does that work for your sandwich?
Directions: Take 94 to 90 West. Take 90 West (towards Rockford) and exit at Route 59. At the stoplight at the end of the ramp turn left and go about a mile. The forest preserve will be on your right.

This is not the shortest way, but it is the most direct and easiest to follow. If you take any other roads, you're on your own!
Thank you Auntie Paula!

Very cool!

Oh, but, Stacy - I just remembered, I already reported Murphy's people (I called him Sybil's nephew, I think, but he is of course her cousin 8) )

Lord help us all

Murphy and his mom are already in the count. I thought of 2 more, but forgot who it was
As Paula mentioned, Steve thinks we have a lot of paper goods and silverware in the crawl space from last year :D We'll bring it all!
I found that I don't have to order the sub sandwich(es) in advance; I can just go to the shop and have them made on the spot. So I don't need an official head count anymore!!!!

I do want a sign-in sheet just so we can brag how many people and pups came.

Can someone bring a bag o' ice?????????
I'll take care of ice...how much do we need? Is there going to be alcohol? Maybe some nice Miller Lite...eh what the heck I'll bring that too. What else should we bring???
Nita is bring (oh yum) SCOTCH! Now remember, the forest preserve does NOT allow liquor, so we must abid by the rules and...

HIDE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ONE MORE SLEEP TIL SHEEPIEFEST!

Deborah, liquor is allowed at the forest preserve. This is Cook County after all. So not necessary to hide anything. It's definitely BYOB. Simon's Mom (I feel bad--I don't remember YOUR name, just the dogs' and your husband's, so please refresh my memory) I think we just need one bag o' ice.

A little veggie tray would be nice for those who are looking for stuff to bring. Boring, but it will make us feel virtuous. Of course brownies and cookies are always welcome!
 hmmm....I'm thinking maybe we need a second bottle of Chivas!

In the past we've tried sign in sheets (I almost wrote "sheeps"), but I can very read them. Shall we try again?

Anyone volunteer to bring name tags and markers?
We'll bring some sweet treats and bottled water.
Oh! Veggie tray. Something I can handle that doesn't require cooking   That's what I'll bring then.

No alcohol for me. Not permitted to run agility under the influence (and neither is Sybil, no matter what she tells you! Well, if she's anything like her mom her fondness doesn't extend past the bubbly. Your scotch and beer should be safe)

Sign up sheet is a good idea so you have the contact information of people to invite for next year, yes?

so how do you intend to get a veggie tray to the venue intact? from what I have heard it should be eaten the first time you turn your head to check on traffic.

Hm. Good point! :lmt:

Send Sybil or Veggie tray with Jan, but not both?

Enterprise just dropped off my van for the weekend!

Oh! I'm getting so excited I could burst!!!! I sure wish I hadn't agreed to work tomorrow morning...I just want to get to

SHEEPIEFEST! 5
Call in sick!!!!!!!
I tried to get someone else to do it, but couldn't find anyone last minute. and its 2 meetings, so if I didn't go, I'd be letting over 50 people down, and I certain don't want to do that!

See you tomorrow Auntie!!!!!
Bob the Wonder Pony managed to whack his left front leg today and it was swollen and hot when I got to the barn. I cold hosed it and he's on Bute. He SHOULD be better tomorrow but there is an esceedingly SLIM CHANCE that I will have to have the vet out and therefore miss SheepieFest!5.

I told him to get better. I will keep Deborah posted via cell phone. If I cannot make it, carry on (in the words to Tim Gunn). If I cannot make it, I will be very sad.

Everyone think positive thoughts for Bob's leg, and my presence at SheepieFest!5.
Oh Paula

I'm so sorry to hear about Bob. I hope he gets better overnight so you can make it to Sheepiefest 5!

I will be there with Jim and Winston.

I am bringing taco dip and chips, little sandwiches, potato salad and or course sweets.

See you all tomorrow.

Mary
Paula
I hope Bob feels better tomorrow......
Lots of well wishes for the boy.
Hope you can make it to Sheepiefest but,
you need to take care of your baby!
Good Luck with him
Good Morning everyone.

Is everybody ready for Sheepiefest 5?

I know Winston is ready and waiting by the car to go and have some fun with all the sheepies.

See you there!

Mary
Well, it was a gorgeous day in MN yesterday and today, so I bet you are having a wonderful day over in IL today. Have fun and take lots of pictures. :D :D
Poor Bob. He's just upset you're about to have fun w/o him :( Hope he looks and feels better today :)
Well, we're supposedly leaving in an hour. Liz is still on the table with the dryer on her and I need to finish packing, so we'll see.

Promises to be a gorgeous day.

See some of you there 8)

Kristine
have fun all!!!
It is beutiful here in NY and a perfect day for some sheepie fun. Too bad we didn't plan any  maybe next year.
I'm trying REAL HARD TO FEEL BETTER. I'm sick....kinda. Curled into a fetal position. In excruciating pain.

If anything changes I'll be there but from experience, it won't.
I hope you guys are having a great time! Me and naughty Walter are hanging out on the porch thinking of all you!
Thinking of you guys!
Hope everybody has a BLAST!!!! :go:
Hi! Just a quick message of thanks to Paula for doing the coordinating this year. It was a blast like always. The weather was PERFECT and everyone had a great time. It was so nice to see old faces and meet some new ones. We missed those of you who couldn't participate this year.

I think Fozzie gets more energy every year instead of less. He didn't nap in the car, we washed his feet, and he's still busy. He did tell me how much fun he had!

Well, that is good news - about the good time!
So, the pictures are coming soon????? 8)
I hope everyone had fun!!

How is Bob????
I know, I for one am totally BEAT! It was a fabulous day!!! The weather couldn't have been better.

We had more auction items then in the past. In addition, we had a donation jar in case some wanted to donate, but didn't necessarily want to bid on anything. PLUS we had 2 raffle baskets.

I'm really proud to announce, we raised over :rimshot: SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS! It gave Paula and I great pleasure to present to Midwest OES Rescue. It will be shared (as needed) by Nita in Ind. and Nancy in Minn.

It never feels like enough, but I think we did great! I want to personally thank everyone that bid and donated.

I cannot express HOW MUCH FOOD was there! OMG! I will NOT be tracking weight watchers points today! Paula and I were eating fried chicken like we were 2 coyotes in a hen house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And thank you to Nita for providian a wee bit of scotch. Oh yes, Deb donated a bottle of Chivas, with I gladly bid on and won!

We had such wonderful people and pups. Its such a gratifing experience. I know Paula has some counts to report, but I bet she's sleeping. She was at the forest preserve by 9 am...along with Ricardo and Rose, our new friends from Michigan.

Thank you Paula for doing the Lion's share of work this year. Thank you Bob, for being a trouper and not kvetching, so your mom could be there.
Thank you to everyone who made this day very special.

I :hearts: you all!

You were MISSED. Got to see Kathi whom I haven't seen forever. Got to play on agility equipment. Sybil pretended she knew what rally was till she saw Nelson...They have some kind of weird thing going on where she abuses him and he keeps coming back for more. That was a surprise. He really wanted to play with her and ran past my two more feminine, shall we say, bitches to do so. Too tired to figure out what that means. zzzzzzzz

A great time though, great weather, great to see familiar faces again (and their uprights too  ) Many thanks as always to Paula and Deb who did a great job once again

Pam - I hope you're feeling better. I was wondering where you were.

No pictures from me since I took none - sorry. I wish I had thought to bring a camera because there were photo opportunities galore!

Kids and I need to hit the hay so we can be fresh for herding tomorrow. Cooler with the possibility of rain. For those who are going: dress warm!!! It's on an open hill top and usually ten degrees cooler than anywhere else in the area.

KB zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I'm thrilled everyone had a great time, and that such a good sum of money was raised for Rescue!

Way to go!
Have fun herding today - and pictures please!!! :D

We are participating in a 3 mile walk for Autism today - Chewie and I are both walking.
I am doing the no-rain dance here as well. It is sprinkling now and a heavier band is on the way. Good thing the walk starts later - registration at 11, walk at noon.
I had a huge post typed and somehow it got lost so I'm trying not to say a bad word here.

Pics are in the gallery under "Other Events." I lost my huge post trying to copy them over to here so I give up.......

SheepieFest gets bigger and better every year. The weather was perfect for the 27 dogs and 42 uprights. There were 25 OES and 2 greyhounds (Toni and John brought their 2 rescues, along with killer chocolate chip/dark cherry/walnut bars). Thanks to Kristine, Kathi and Jan for hauling, setting up, instruction and taking down the agility and rally equipment. It was so neat to see sheepies go through the tunnel and hoop and over the bars. Nelson, being the show pro that he is, hopped up on the agility table thinking it was a grooming table, and laid down.

I was asleep by 8:30 last night. I'm such a wimp. Bob's leg is doing better--I checked it after SheepieFest. It's still swollen but the swelling is going down. Managed to get a ride in this morning before the rain. I hope the herding gig is staying dry.

Many thanks to everyone who makes SheepieFest! the success it is. Deborah started this 5 years ago and it's grown by leaps and bounds. I hope everyone had a good time. I'm already thinking about next year!
I'm glad to hear what a great time y'all had. I'm going over to check out the photos! Bravo on the money raised for rescue, too!!

Debbie and Moonray, it was great to meet you too!!! And Deb, thanks for the donation of Chivas and shot glasses. I believe that is the perfect auction item!
