Blood in Stool

Ok, so poor Bailey had a fit of diarrhea last night. She was listliss on Saturday, ate as normal, so we didn't really think alot of it, and blamed it on the heat. She wouldn't eat yesterday mornin though. When we got home last night around 9:00pm, she was very, very frantic in her crate. I took her out immediately, and she has several very, um, dramatic poos. So I've been giving her lots of water, and a bit of Gatorade all night long, and she did come in and eat some dry dog food last night. She's acting normally today, lots of energy, wanting to play, she ate breakfast. However, first poo of the morning had a bloody looking substanvce in it. We've got an appointment this morning at the vet, but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

No ideas... but please keep us posted and I hope things go well.
Good luck at the Vet's!
We had this issue a few weeks ago with Darby.
A stool cultured showed nothing but we did a round of Panacur to be sure.
She was put on Metronidazole for 10 days along with 5 days of Reglan.
I hope Bailey will be feeling better soon.
We had this problem with Oliver after a week in boarding. It was the first time he and Ellie were boarded together. She was still very young and he must have stressed over protecting her. When we picked him up, diarehha with blood.

The emergency vet tested the stool and the ultimate prognosis was stress. He had to be hydrated and was on a rice and dry hamburger diet for a couple days.
This seems to be a common occurrance with sheepies. Bogie had a bout of the runs a couple of weeks ago, was tested, and showed nothing remarkable. He had a course of Metronidazole and it cleared. So I wouldn't worry that it's anything traumatic. They seem to be susceptible to digestive upsets- my boy has problems with food changes- so I need to keep him really consistent.
panda has had bloody stool...last november it got so bad that she was passing straight blood.....off to the emergency vet (it was a sunday) and found out that she has colitis....2 weeks of meds and bland food and she was back to normal.....
Daisy had the colitis too, it was a couple of years ago and so far so good, but I do keep an eye out for listless ness and always check the poop for any signs of worms or any other things that might not look right. I'm a wierd dog mom for sure, but it is one of the ways you can gauge what is going on with them.

I hope your Bailey is fine.
My basset Simon gets a stress diarrhea, and a few times it has been blood tinged. Poor guy.
A few causes - of diarrhea that can lead to having blood - change in diet, especially something richer than they are used too; hot weather, traveling, anxiety, change in their routine (your work hours, vacation, different time getting fed), increased exercise, new dog or family member....
Hot weather does it with my OES boys every time. Bella has been affected by the heat here once or twice too. I try to get pro-pectalin from my vet when it happens. It's not very expensive and it clears them up pretty quick. It is a mixture of probiotics and kaopectate. We do the rice for a couple of days too. Sheepies seem to be prone to sensitive tummies. I haven't had one who didn't have an issue from time to time.
