Hi From West Virginia

I am so happy I found you all. Unfortunately I bought my Sheepie from a chain pet store (fortunate because I love my Dog). But I don't live in an area where I have found a lot of other OES owners and the pet store really knows nothing about this breed. I am a pastor so I needed a Sheepdog to help with my flock!

I will give you the run down on Bailey and your experience can rain apon me.

Bailey is now almost 2 years!

She is a breeze to train and was housebroken a few weeks after I brought he home!

She is aggressive over food with my other dog, a toy poodle, but I have always fed her in her crate so it is not a problem for us or Bogie. She has never growled or snapped at any of us humans who either feed her or are around her when eating... so I don't know if that is really termed food aggressive, or if that is just dog chatter. She is otherwise submissive to the 16 year old poodle.

She is an absolute clown and is the subject of many funny stories. I have found I need to keep a camera around always or no one will believe some of this stuff.

I have been "gumping" my way through grooming but she gets brushed daily and I am on the constant hunt for mats. So what I missed in technique I make up in diligence. She hasn't been clipped for over a year except for between the pads of her feet ( I learned from the poodle), and I often wonder if I should at least have trimmed her face.

I took over because our local groomer knows nothing about the breed and when I dropped her off last year at the groomer with a request for a puppy cut, she came out with something resembling a poodle puppie cut( was too mad to take pictures of it and had her shaved soon after). Since it was June we had to watch her for sunburn for the next two months. I haven't been back since.

Easily this is the most loving dog I have ever owned or even seen. She lays in the chair with me. My wife says she has caught her "spooning" with me at night. Her favorite activity is going to the park and herding ducks! She is getting good at getting those ducks in a bunch and driving them in the water without any training.

So I look forward to getting to know you all and learning about my dog from you. Their are few OES's here (this is hound country) so few opportunities for the rescue of them, but I could help out in the Pittsburgh area and Eastern Ohio if you hear of any dogs needing help. Also, if their are any events in those areas, let me know!

Chauncey is from a BYB ( we didn't know it at then ) and other than him being a strong willed, herding dog we've have not had a problem.
