Hi! So sorry to hear the news about your sheepie. Hope he feels better soon. Please see this thread.
http://forum.oes.org/viewtopic.php?t=20938 If you have any specific questions please let me know as we have been managing lyme and an unknown tick bourne disease since June 23. Bogart's Snap test was strongly positive for Lyme , negative for 3 other TBD. At one point, they were questioning Rocky Mountain Spotted fever, but have ruled that out. Bogart is now starting to improve from both Tick bourne diseases. Today the Vet added 2 more weeks of the Doxycycline for total of a 6 week course. We have found the Greenies pill pockets great for ease of medication administration (costly, but worth it) Please update us on your sheepies progress. We found that within one day, Bogart was not limping and able to walk after 24 hours on the doxycycline. One consideration--please monitor your sheepie closely even on the Doxycycline--ticks can carry more than one disease that can be transmitted at the same time. Let your Vet know if the symptoms are not improving or if you see other concerns-fever/lethargy or in our case- also a nose bleed.. |
And here is an article we found very helpful---
