Who's planning on entering the various performance events (herding, as well as agility, obed and rally) with whom in what? Rough guess is fine at this point. I've asked them to please clarify the schedule as best they can since it looks like there's potential for some conflicts with breed & obed/rally. Will share if/when I know anything. I asked Twin Cities to please start performance earlier and breed later and they promised they'll try, but usually you can't completely nail this down until entries have closed and you have the final numbers. If you need a recap of what's being offered when, please see: http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamer ... tional.htm muchas gracias, Kristine |

i am going to try. marley will definitely be ready for agility if we do come out. we are upping our classes with the "good" instructor.
I may also attempt rally with one or both of them - although I may only bring one of them just to make it easier on me. |
Thanks, Kerry. That sounds sensible. Hope you can come!!!
With three two year olds, I'm learning to flat out stagger who I'm getting ready for what. Boy do I miss having an experienced dog to run/trial. Che will be entered in 2014 or when they have a class for the dog who can sustain the zoomies the longest, which ever comes first Kristine |
Val and I are coming up with Harry and Heart.
I will be entering Harry in all agility events at the National trial on Tuesday - so unless you get a ribbon for participation you can save money on ribbons for him. As of now we will put Harry and Heart in the Twin City novice rally and novice obedience just for fun on Wednesday. We have no experience in that area. Do you have to do a sit in obedience and rally? Things are starting to look pretty bleak for my guy. |
WHOO-HOO!!!! A newbie with a newbie....(Me and Heart!!!)...I can't wait to make a fool out of myself... I just hope Heart doesn't get too embarrassed of me...you know how kids are.... |
Nigel could compete in the zoomies contest...as long as it include repelling off expensive sofas!!! |
i'm so proud of you guys going! (ALL 4 of you...... Harry and Heart and Val & Judy!!). I'm thinking at this point i am going to come..... with all this other mess going on i've just lost my heart in it all. |

ARE you coming??????...(heart says...Please ???????) |
I am getting ready to call right now!!! (Marty reminds me everyday)
Marty and Murph are going to be entering Rally both days... and obedience! This will be Murph's first competition for obedience as he has always been head shy! His only "problem" is the Stand for Exam....yas know why does this person need to touch me????? Anyway, let me get these reservations maded! Thanks!!! |
So, as I see that this little "get together" is right down the road from us, I am wondering exactly what it is. We want to come see and meet other sheepies, but I can't find any info if this is something we can do. Our Maggie wouldn't be able to be entered into ANYTHING, but we would LOVE to see what it is all about. |
Wendy,
go to http://www.OldEnglishSheepdogClubofAmerica.org and click on National Specialty..... will have all the info. |

Definitely head on over. We will be there all week! I am excited, as the drive from the show site to the herding trial goes right past my home farm that I grew up on. Think the new owners will care if we all honk as we drive by??? |
OMG I think I have been talked into doing rally and obedience....ack I have to look and see the easiest class to make a fool of my self..kristine I will help you and help with the dna drive let me gather my thoughts and plan for this I surley have lost my mind |
No you haven't Guiness will be wonderful!!! |
This is an FYI for agility entries.
The FAST class is not listed on the entry form but is offered. I spoke with the trial secretary yesterday. You can just write it in and add the fee. Please pass this on to anyone you know who might be entering agility. Thanks. |

Easiest class for foolmaking - probably novice rally. Right, Val? You don't even need tape there Pre novice obedience is also very doable. Question, though - does Guinness have an ILP/PAL number? You'll need that to be able to sign him up. But not for the herding test (HCT1)!! It's not hard to get, but it does take a few weeks and entries close on the 27th, right? Kristine |
Guess what!! My backyard bred rescue had AKC paper work surrendered with him.....on a lark I registered him!!! Now as far as the paperwork I found his letter for his CGC and after his name is a number starting with the letters DN is this his AKC number ?? I never dreamed I would need it.... |

yes the DN # is his registration number - you are all set. Must have been a girl scout |
Mad Dog wrote: Question, though - does Guinness have an ILP/PAL number? You'll need that to be able to sign him up.
I just spoke to Cindy ..... Guinness is registered!!!! Now she just has to find his papers. The obedience/rally girls are going to P-A-R-T-Y when we are all finished in the ring. Of course we will be watching all the "show dogs" after we are done. We promise not to embarrass any of our friends who are showing. |

Yes, DN plus a bunch of digits. I know there can be good reasons for rescue not to transfer registrations even when they are available, but I think I'm going to ask WI to consider doing so unless there's compelling reason not to, especially since I'm such a pest when it comes to bugging people to do stuff with their dogs. You're good to go, hon By the way, I didn't bug you for his pedigree already and then forgot about it? Kristine |
kerry wrote: [SHe has his registration Number so she really doesn't need his papers - right?
Bingo. She needs his registered name, his reg #, his DOB and the name of his sire and dam. All but the latter can be looked up on the AKC site if you know either his reg name or #. I'm having this weird de-ja-vu feeling that I entered him in the pedigree database and may have all of this info...Nope, no Guinness. Hm. Kristine |
In rescue we normally do not give adopters AKC papers Mid Atlantic German Shepherd Rescue was going to courtesy list Guinness and take him into the rescue because a family member vol for my group. They knew I had an OES many years ago and ask me to take him I said NO NO NO but he was headed to the pound so I picked him up and the family gave me a packet of his stuff. In it was the paperwork from the wacky breeder for AKC I called to see if she wanted him back..duh no. So he stayed with me(My husband said if I trained him I could keep him ) guess I better get busy. We planned on calling an OES rescue but he stayed. It was an all around odd adoption......but we LOVE him. |
and he loves you |
Cindy..............
WHOO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
What a great story.
I am filling out Chewie's - started today on my lunch break at work. Just need to fill in the form, write the check and mail it off tomorrow! We are doing herding Monday (with sister Martha and LeAnne). Rally Excellent on Wednesday for our *title* leg! (hopefully) and breed. Going for our 1st RAE leg (hopefully once again) on Friday. Thursday in breed. After all this, I decided no $$ left for regular obedience ....Oh, well, we will be more prepared next year anyway. |
WOW!!! Dawn...I can't wait to see you in the ring!!!! I think I will put blinders on Heart so she can concentrate watching Chewie!!!! |
I cannot vouch for the quality of the performance, our goal is to have fun.
Chewie is very "girl aware" these days and would LOVE to know Heart is watching him!! |
Tell Chewy to watch out for Heart...She will be the sheepie with the rose on her nose.....!!!!!!! |
I'm entering Nelson in Herding even though he's never met a sheep before.
This better be fun 'cause it ain't gonna be pretty. |

This better be fun 'cause it ain't gonna be pretty. well the first level in AKC herding is the instinct test so his response should be instinctual |

Duh? |

It's still instinct based with just a tiny bit of ahem basic obedience. A sit, brief stay and recall on a six foot lead I think. (if they can pass a CZGC, they can do this) And the tester can take the dog in for you. Great opportunity to let your dog see some sheep and see how he or she likes them.... I think the entry fee is $35? Dog doesn't have to be AKC registered since this isn't an AKC event, so if there are any rescue OES who are, say, coming in for the parade and need something to occupy their monday morning, here's a great chance to play a little. Kristine |
well I knew it was an A something
teach me to type and do something else at the same time. |
kerry wrote: well I knew it was an A something

I wondered what a CZGC was ...but it dosen't matter something unexpected came up with my traveling buddy and she cannot come. It is too far and expensive for me to drive alone. I had my registration stuff in hand with a check and my rescue parade form filled out. I guess I will have to wait till it swings around my way again sigh it would have been fun |

This better be fun 'cause it ain't gonna be pretty. You may be very surprised! I love to take mine for the herding instinct test! I almost had tears coming down my face when I took Isaac. 8 years old, had never seen sheep up close before & he knew exactly what to do! At any rate...good to hear you will be there! I was hoping you'd be coming to the national! |
