Our Nelson is a big, 100 lb. boy and generally uses a 42" crate for shows, etc.. It's actually a good fit. We have a 48" cloth crate and we could practically fit two dogs in it. It's HUGE!!! Try crates out for size at your local pet supply store and be sure one will actually fit in your car. A two door crate is nice in an SUV because you can turn the crate and let the dog in or out from two different directions. Very convenient when packing other things around it on a long trip.
If it's just for the ride from PA to IN that you need a crate, you may want to consider a car harness or pet barrier for your car. That would leave much more space in your vehicle to pack other things that would otherwise be taken up by the crate. Also gives your dog more freedom than a crate. Give us a shout when you reach Indiana!!! Glad to see more OES owners moving out here! Nita Midwest OES Rescue |
