not a rescue but he is fearful?

OK so I moved into this house for 2 months while waiting for my apartment to be ready in August. Phlufie has never lived with anyone else before (other than my mom staying over), and now he has 3 other people and 3 other dogs.

I left him with the landlord and all other people for a weekend to see if he would get along, and he passed with flying colors.

This is the first week, and everything was find until today. I left to go to school the whole day, and when I came home my landlord told me stories that horrified me. Apparently he got so fearful and territorial, he attacked the landlord when she came close. I don't think she was hurt, as she knew how to handle dogs. Then he tried to bite other dogs when they came close to my room. And he barked at other roommates. At the end my landlord put him with her in her room, so he would calm down.

What was that all about? I meant I got him from a nice breeder, and I have never abused him! I know he is a bit skittish and nervous when I am around, but I was told he is very quiet and calm when I am not at home. He had training before, and I tried to socialize him as much as possible. I have no problem walking him on the street, although I don't let kids come close.

How do you train a dog not to be fearful? He is not like this all the time! One day he is nice, and the next day he gets upset..... I have 6 more weeks to go before I live by myself again. Help!!

He is in unfamiliar territory. Since the incident took place when the landlord came into the house I would recommend crating your dog when you are gone. It would easier on the dog and safer on people that entered the house. Plus, save you any chances of being held liabe in case some one got hurt. Dogs try to do the best they can and he was probably thinking he was protection your "stuff". Hence, well done. Just not what was needed at the time. Try the crate and see if it helps the situation.
Let me see if she has a crate I can use. I think for now I will use the baby gate to keep him far away from my room when I am gone. You think that helps?
