passed on please inform your local animal control department. The ones who issue rabies tags. Yesterday Kane County Animal Control called me to see if my dog was lost as they had picked up an OES and I was registered as having one. Needless to say it upset me quite a lot. The girl on the phone was appologetic as obviously she didn't know my Luaka had crossed the bridge. She assured me they would mark their files so that no-one would call again. Hope this helps. Shan |

I can't believe that Animal Control in your area is going through their registration data to try to find the owners of a stray! What a great department!!!!
Thanks for your post, and your reminder to notify the people who license your dog when your furkid passes on. |
As a rescuer I had to contact by mail when a dog moved on to a new home. This was so I did not have too many dogs for country regulation. Of course I've never registered my own dogs (ahem) so they never knew I was flying above the limit.
How wonderful you have an Animal Control who cares so much about the 4 pawed members of the area they keep track and will call you. Once I stopped crying about my deceased dog I'd drop them a post thanking them for their concern. |
I must admit I had not thought of that. But your're right, it is nice of my area animal control to care enough to try and locate owner of lost dog. It must be quite time consuming. I will send a thank you note to them. Shan |
