There's grease (from the smoke) all over the upper cabinets now, and even on top of the little lip of the microwave that sticks out from under the cabinet above. I think the problem lies in the fact that a hood has a deep concave shape and draws the smoke upward, whereas the microhood draws a lot of air from the sides, and only from the back half of the unit while the hood drew smoke from all the way in the front. Also, the hood came forward further than the microhood. I have thought about making some sort of a bonnet that would attach to the bottom of the microhood and telescope down and forward a bit to try to catch the smoke... has anyone ever seen anything like this? I want my range hood back! |

We added the microwave a while back. I have greasy lint everwhere, but I think that may be due to my husband's inabaility to finish any job around the house. Hmmm, do you think if he ever connected the microwave vent to the outside it might help???? |
ive never had a problem with one....however, i dont cook greasy stuff in the house....i cant stand the smell...so always outside...i honestly cant even remember the last time i turned on the fan.....
is it a recirculating one or an outside vent one? |
It vents outside, and there's a ton of air coming from the vent. It is quite powerful, even more powerful than the hood that was there before which I thought was "quite powerful." |
I never thought our microhood thingy did a very good job either. We always had the greasey stuff too. I used to scrub and scrub. Hated that!!!!
Here we have a regular one... now that I think about it... I believe I am rather indifferent on this regular one. Not much help, I know. |
I've had a microhood for several years and don't notice more grease/cleaning than when I had a standard hood. Seems basically the same to me. |
