I've wanted a sheep dog ever since I worked with an adult sheepdog named Boe at a shelter in Dekalb IL. I really would have like to adopted him, but at that time I was still in college and it just wasn't the time to have a dog. So now, 3 years later, I am finally at a point in my life where I can bring a dog into my family. I still think of Boe and I hope that he is somewhere with someone who truly loves him and I'm sad that couldn't be me, but happy that he did find a home. Now the reason I wanted to post was to just share with the OES community that I will be getting my furry additon in just 26 days! I am looking forward to meeting my little girl, Luna on August 1st. I have been following all the updates from the breeder and I am anxiously awaiting her arrival. I know Luna is going to Love it in Alaska as we have so many trails and places to explore. And we are just a walk away from the dog park! I think she will be quite happy. Anywho, thanks for allowing me to share my news! - Danielle |

Danelle: Welcome from Florida!!! Congrats on your sheepie girl Luna. I am sure that 26 days seems like a long way away, but it will be here before you know it and then your sweet sheepie girl is home.
We hope you keep posting on the forum and tell us how Luna is doing and post pics. If you need help, don't hesitate to come on and ask...lots of experience here. Good luck and let us know when the special girl is home. |
Welcome and congrats! We rescued our first OES in Anchorage AK...someone paid lots of money to have a OES shipped to them to breed with their male OES...he almost killed her. We so loved our Callie and she sure loved us...before we got her she had been tied up outside and throughout the AK winter...she was a mess...she loved being cleaned up and inside once we rescued her. Beware...once you have an OES you will develop an addiction...they are really special! |
wow how great a pup of course we need to see pics |
Thanks for all the welcomes!
I just wanted to let Ihall15 know that I am having Luna shipped up here only because there is only one rescue and breeder in Alaska. She said that she did not have any rescues at the moment and she just had her last female spade. I originally set out to rescue a sheepie, but found Luna and fell in love with her. The winters are cold here but not to worry because Luna will never be tied outside. I think of my pets as my family members. I would not make my family sleep outside, so I would never make my pets do that either. I am very excited for her and cannot wait until she is of age to safely leave her mama and litter mates. The breeder will be sending her with a blanky and a favorite toy that still have the smell of her mama and litter mates as to ease her stress of leaving home. I don't have any pictures of my own at the moment, but I will ask the breeder if I can post the pictures she has on here, just so everyone can see what she looks like! |
Welcome & Congratulations |
WELCOME! I too added a Luna to my life about 6 months ago! My how time flies; you are going to LOVE having a sheepie puppy. I adore my sweet Luna, and her sister Tonks.
That being said? Sleep now, while you can. |
26 days? How can you stand it? |
It's SO hard to wait... you must be very excited!
While you wait, you might take some time to puppyproof... and sleep! Congratulations to you and we all are looking forward to seeing your little sheepie. |
Congrats! Welcome to the forum, can't wait to see pics of Luna |
Congrats, you must be so excited. |
Congratulations on your new addition!! I am sure you are probably bursting with excitment. I know I was when I was waiting to bring my boy home. I counted days for a while and then I counted hours.
That said, take the advice you've been given here and sleep while you can. You're gonna need it. |
Thanks for all the warm welcomes! I am counting down the weeks and I am sure I will eventualy turn that into hours. As of today, Luna is 5 weeks old. She will be ready to leave mom on Aug. 1st.
Completely excited. I've already started to get things for her. |
I'm new to the forum too. But my puppy is a bit older by a couple of weeks. You sound like you will be the best of mommies. She sounds spoiled already and she's not even home yet. Have fun buying her all of puppy stuff.
