When I graduated from (Highland Park) high school, we actually had our ceremony there. HP was a pretty much a small town then. It has grown and turned into a very avant garde, weathy, sophisticated place. But growning up, it was just a great place to live, right on the lake. Last night, Garrison Keillor, from NPR's Prairie home companion and his crew performed at Ravinia. The weather was picture perfect! Tony and I and the kids and Stef's friend went. We had lawn seats, which are the best, because we brought a feast of a picnic complete with LOTS O'WINE!. I can't tell you what a wonderful time we had! I'm amazed at how clever and brilliant Garrison is! We laughted our tushes off, and sang and danced. It was sorta like a grown up, unstoned Woodstock! Today, Sirius radio is replaying last nights show. How fun! To hear it again. Any other Garrison fans out there? |

I was tuned in last night. It was a good show. |
BIG FAN here!!!
I'll have to tune in to the show on Sirius this evening and give a listen!! |
Big Fan except when he gets political. |
I can't stand him!
He uses his MN "roots" in a fakey way. It is so sappy. It is like he is cashing in on our normal way of life. |

Yea...I hear ya. We had invited friends (bikers...lawyer type bikers) to come with us, but they declined because of some comment he had made regarding the Viet Nam memorial. I am not a wildly political person...my mother was a dyed in the wool Dem, my dad...a Republican Judge...it caused me to have a split political personality! Taskers Mom...when does it air again? |
love him....would listen to him on Public radio...then got his tapes....have not seen the movie....has anyone??????? |
I'm so jealous! Adam and I were going to fly to Boston to see him this year, but we had a schedule conflict. He never seems to come to Atlanta.... |
My husband and I just recently started listening to him on NPR. Some times I love it and sometimes I hate it depending on what and how he is doing on the show. |

We saw it, and as much we love him, we hated the movie. It was very strange. The angel of death was walking around. It was just bizarre. But I must say, Kevin Kline was great as Guy Noir! |

I know what you mean. Some of the stuff is just to blue-grassy/hillbilly for me. But I truly enjoy the majority of it. It was really special to be there for the broadcast. And so much of what they did related back to Chicago, so that was fun. |
I saw, liked and even own the movie, and really liked it.
Actually, the James Sewell Company performed a Guy Noir Ballet--and of course I went and enjoyed it. Not nerdy but funny. I don't always like Prairie Home Companion, but I often do. |
