Unfortunately, she got down (by herself!) when I left the room to get the camera. She followed this up with a walk that almost tuckered ME out. Life is good. |

Pooh can get on the couch now, but not the bed....but he still doesn't know that. He'll take a running start and try but only succeeds in getting halfway up before sliding back down (the bed is pretty high up).
Try again for a pic, I'm sure it'll be so cute! |
Yay Belle!
I have to admit that I misread the title of your post... I thought it read "got it" instead of "got" and I was wondering if I was going to have to censor the post... |
That's awesome! Yay Belle! She was probably very comfy up there...lol....
Ron, you crack me up! |
She looked very comfy and content . . . with nothing censorable on her mind, LOL! |
That is a big accomplishement and the expression on the dogs face is great they are surprised too. Mine all got a running start down the hall and into the bedroom, and on to the bed. Keep the puupy stories coming they are so sweet. |
Oh, but Belle's not a puppy, she's an 8-yr old rescue with a failing heart and "horrible" arthritis in her hips.
She's been with me for about 3 months. J |
I'm sorry if you've gone over it before but what, if any, pain medication is Belle on? |
She's on Enalapril & Digoxin for the cardio myopathy/dilation along with fish oil, l-carnitine & taurine as per the cardiologist.
For the arthritis I just started her on Wellflex from Wellness and I've seen improvement in just a couple of weeks as opposed to just glucosomine/chondroitin. i give her Metacam for flareups. She's definitely got an awkward gait, but when she decides to move she's like a freight train! A furry, happy, freight train. |
It's been so wonderful to hear about Belle's progress over the last few months! Big hugs and a great Hooray!!!

If her heart can tolerate increased activity, maybe a pain med would really help her mobility! It really made all the difference in the world for our senior.
Is the vet against it? |
Everything is sort of on hold right now until the follow-up cardiologist visit at the end of January and then the regular vet checkup following that.
Back in October, the cardiologist wasn't sure if the damage could be reversed, so everything else is hanging on the followup test results. I probably shouldn't encourage those Indy 500 walks, but it's hard to slow her down when she's in the mood to move. She likes to speed race past dogs who are outside, as if to say, "I'm going for walkies and you aren't, na na na na na na!" |
WOW!!!look at what your love has done for her!!Im so impressed and you should be also, keep the love flowing and Im sure she will be doing alot of other neat stuff also. Please keep us up on ALL her new adventures.Tell her she has come a long way baby!! Mickey sends her a big wet sheepie kiss~smooch~~~ |
a combo of prednisone and rimadyl worked wonders for my 17 year old shih tzu...
glad to hear she is doing so well! |
Jil, such wonderful news on Belle! I can just picture her turning on the bed, cause Drez does the same thing! Must be a sheepie trait, that they circle the beds like a cat before settling down.
So glad to hear Belle's doing so well. What a find - both you finding her, and her finding you! Merry Christmas! Chris |
