when vet services are closed, I thought I would start a thread with helpful questions for your home assessment. Always call your vet if you have concerns, but in many cases it may be a 24 hour center that is covering for your vet's practice which may be located miles away. Here is an article to start off assessment discussion Please add your questions/observations-- http://www.sonic.net/~cdlcruz/GPCC/library/sickdog.htm |

I love that website......the GPCC site. Hadn't read it for awhile so hadn't seen this. Thank you. |
As someone who just spent the entire evening/night and morning at the ER with my OES, I appreciate these two informational sites listed so thank you!
I might add, everyone should have a first aid kit available at all times. And it might not be a bad idea to get your pet used to a soft muzzle before it becomes necessary to use one so they will accept it without fear. Practice putting it on and give a treat and take it off right away...Just to get the dog familiar with it. My dog got injured early Saturday evening and ended up needing five stitches. I do have a first aid kit but of course could not find it under the pressure of seeing him hurt. He's home now doing okay.. |
Hi Ashley,
So glad your dog is doing better , great suggestion to have a first kit and muzzle for emergencies. 24 hour er vet offices are a blessing. Wishing your sheepie continued recovery ! |
