Its a good thing I was wearing pants. My left knee is all cut up and hurts to walk on and the right only has a little scrap on it. I don't turn my back on them anymore. |

Oooooh...I feel so bad. Hope your knees heal and don't cause you too much pain. SamSun he will come take care of you. |
Ouch! You had me wincing in sympathy by the 1st crash. The 2nd time - ugghhh! Lucky boys, coming up and kissing you!
I hope your knees are alright. I am aching too. I already had little buzzing electric charges down my left arm from a pinched nerve in my neck. I just came in the house for a tall glass of iced tea (sweet tea, for all you southerners!) after unloading a pickup load of mulch. For the dog yard, of course! Haven't even got to my flower beds - they still look like crap. I already feel the back stiffness. And it was soooo fun pitching it off into a headwind. Shower, here I come! The dogs were out helping - thank goodness Chewie had enough sense to stay out of my mulch-throwing range. Maggie, well she's another story. She thought it would be fun to sit under the tailgate. Caught all the drift as it blew back. OK, break time is over. I better get out and spread it before it gets any darker and the mosquitos eat me alive. |
Yes, I got to see Pam's knees in person today at the hospital that we both work at. Our dogs have those moments that challenge us for sure. Barkley has been obsessive about playing soccer since he got a little taste of it from sheepiepalooza and he often goes running without watching when my husband throws the ball. Twice now he has nearly taken me out with a sideways run right into the back of my knees. They are big and strong dogs for sure. Hope you feel better very soon Pam. |
Ow, ow, ow! Already having arthritis in one knee and having the other knee banged up from falling last winter, I cringe just hearing about this. Ask Val about being plowed down by a dog and the torture and months of rehab she went through.
It's a good thing these dogs are cute!! |
Bless your heart. I've been plowed too - it's NO fun at all! Hope your aches go away soon! |
I am so sorry this happened to you. Ouch!!!!! I hope you heal quickly. |
The almost inevitable knee damage to the owners should be written in to the OES descriptions for people who think they may want one - haha.
I can think of at least two OES agility handlers who have such injuries, one requiring surgery. Which is why, when my most excellent agility instructor, whom I otherwise don't question, tells me to stop loitering and watching my dog on course, that if I do my job and she knows hers she will do and be as I expect her to be, I just look at her and think: "sure, as soon as I have a death wish, uh-huh". There's an excellent article on just this phenomonon. I should get my butt in gear and get it up on the performance website. I'll try to do so this weekend and then post the link. Hope you feel better soon, Pam. Kristine |
okay three sheep dogs over the years - no knee problems or issues. One newfie puppy for two months and I can barely walk up or down stairs. believe me when you expect a dog to always be on the move and you get one who needs to stop and "collect himself" every three or four steps you tend to walk into, fall over or generally collide with the walking loveseat (he is still growing he hasn't reached the walking couch stage yet) |
Ouch. Poor thing! |

Ouch! My back and knees hurt just reading about this! I have to be very agile to avoid being decked by Willoughby in the garden! |

I uploaded a few new pics of the kids most of them). those of you who have seen Morgan in person will probably be surprised at the newest pic of him and the newfie puppy sitting side by side. Beowulf has the puppy newfie hair height - butyep is is almost as big. |
Gasp! I actually felt your pain while reading your post!
When we bang knees or shins..lots of pain involved due to the bony area...owwwww! Least your boys gave you kisses to make up for it! Hope you feel better soon. Marianne |
Thank you Kerry for uploading new pics of your newfie...he is so adorable. My hubby used to have one and her name was Bear, one of the most gentle dogs ever. |
Beowolf is getting huge!!! Morgan is good sized.......
What a cutie though - just more to love. |
Ouch, sorry to hear of your knee troubles, hope they are fine soon |
