Promeris better than Frontline for fleas and ticks?

That's what I've been hearing from some vets, but I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with it? Since we will be going to the lower 48 soon, I need to start looking for something

Promeris - it's new so there's no resistance to it like frontline. Really good for ticks and fleas

I had great success iwth it - but you have to apply carefully. it is actually an old drug ina new delivery system but I was using frontline or advantage up to every two weeks and we had a flea problem. one application of promeris and all gone. I just have to remember to reapply (they were due last week)
I absolutely HATE Promaris!!! I have tried it, once, with each of my 3 dogs. The smell is so aweful that I had to chase my dog around the house to apply it, the smell lasts for days-not hours like they tell you, it left a white streak on my black dog for weeks, and it made my hands tingle for more than 2 hours. They actually have to give a warning sheet with it in some states because it can cause problems for people on medications for diabetics and people on antidepressants. There is another new one on the market called Vectra 3D, I have used it twice now. It has a great applicator, but there is a lot more to apply vs Frontline or Advantix. The amount of time it took to apply was a bit much for my pup, and left me frustrated! LONG LIVE ADVANTIX!!!!!
I did notice Morgan's fur had a yellowish cast where I applied it - but he had just been shaved down. Marley is in full coat so I noticed nothing. I did banish Morgan to the back posrch for an hour when I applied it and Marley to her crate - but mostly so they did not lick each otehr and get sick. Hubby had a reaction on his hands when he firs tused it - now he believes me when I say be careful.

If advantix, advantage and frontline still worked there would be no need for new drugs. I think it is worse in the more humid areas and seems to be worse around LA (FL, TX etc) since Katrina bu tthat could be all coincidence.
I am going through a nightmare since Sunday (it's Tuesday eve). My dogs are listless, lithargic, vomiting, diarrhea, urinating where they lay. They are acting as though they are very depressed. Please be aware my dogs are larger. One is a 4 year old husky and the other is a 2 year old american bulldog.

I feel so guilty that I have done this to them prior to checking on the internet. PLEASE DON'T TAKE THE CHANCE; THEY DO NOT DESERVE THIS. THEY NEED TO REMOVE THIS PRODUCT. GO ON, SEARCH PROMERIS SIDE EFFECTS. You will find an alarming amount of owners who's dogs have suffered the same.
Have you taken your dogs to the vet for testing/treatment?

One of mine may have had a serious reaction to a different brand of topical flea product- thankfully, she appears to be recovering from liver damage. We did annual blood work on Feb. 28th and again mid-May, about 1 1/2 weeks after applying it. The ALT level wouldn't even register on the vet's equipment... diluted by half and still couldn't get a reading. We had to send it out to Idexx.

Have you washed the dogs down to remove as much as possible? Asked what brand of soap would help to cut through... some may recommend Dawn?

Good luck to you. Topical pesticides won't be used here anymore either.
If dogs ingest Promeris they may exhibit symptoms like that for a day or two. However, if it is properly applied there should be no side effects. Call your vet as Lisa said.

As a not efor anyone else following this thread - promeris is not very good against ticks :( in my experience.
Is it possible different meds will work better in different geographical locations. Here in New Jersey most of the people I know use Frontline. In fact, last week I was disgusted with Frontline when I saw a tick on Bailee's neck area. On closer examination, however, a BIG "Well Done" to Frontline as the tick was dead, just still caught in the hair. We have not seen any other ticks or fleas on him yet and we are in primetime season here.
