Hershey wasn't a sheepie but she lived with them all her life. 2 years ago she had exploraty surgery - they removed cancer off her liver the size of a grapfruit. Last year in Sept. she had ACL surgery but she never really recover from it. She was having problems walking and the other dogs seem to pick on her more than usual. WHy did everyone pick on her why I tried so hard to protect her from them she followed me everywhere. At night I lead her to her spot so Shamu wouldn't growl at her. I feel like I failed her or let her down did I wait to long or do it too soon?? Who will protect her at the bridge? I walk around my house and at work in a daze just crying and crying. My stomach has been in my heart and my heart is broken. I miss her and now Echo & Shamu seem sad too.[/img] |

Oh she won't need protecting at the bridge! They are all friendly and happy and playing while they are waiting for their owners.
I am so sorry for your loss. Nothing hurts moer than the loss of a dear dear friend. |
The other dogs were just being dogs. When a member of the pack becomes ill or no longer able to participate, it is ousted from the pack. We have to realize this and keep the infirmed or old away from the other dogs. Not all packs react this way, the strength of the leader (you) and how you react with the the infirmed as well as the others determines pack dynamics.
I'm so sorry about Hershey. The end is always difficult. |
My thoughts are with you. She won't need any protection once she crossed the bridge besides my mom just left us. I am sure she will look after your baby. |
I'm sorry. |
My thoughts are with you. I have been there. I know just how hard it is. Please rest easy. Hershey will be waiting for her loved ones. |
I am so sorry. My thoughts are with you. |
I am so sorry...I do know how you feel. My thoughts are with you. |
Big hugs to you. I'm sorry |
I hear your grief and it is just overwhelming. You need to know that you did everything you could for her. Hershey knew how much you loved her. Don't second guess yourself. I hope you feel better soon. |
I am so sorry |
I'm very sorry about the passing of Hershey.
to you. |
I am so sorry for your loss of Hershey. Most of us all know only too well the pain that follows the death of one of our babies. But please know that she is no longer in pain, and that she loved you very much. And that all our other babies that have gone before her will protect and guide her at the Bridge. |
I am so sorry to hear about Hershey! Not only is she playing at the bridge free from pain...but I KNOW a lot of humans that have to be there with her....one that is there that im SURE of is Jean..Simm2zoo...she is watching over all of our beloved animals.....
hugs to you! |
I'm so sorry. |
I am so sorry you are hurting so much. You did all you could and you loved Hershey. The rest of your dogs would have sensed Hershey was ill.
Hershey is now free from pain and is playing at the Bridge I believe this with all my heart please please try to feel the same. Hugs to you xx |
I'm so sorry for your loss. |
I'm so sorry for your loss. I know animals in the wild will abandon the sick, but I sometimes wonder when our pets "pick on" one thats sick, if they're not just trying to coax them into "getting up and getting with it" again.
Did you do it too soon? NO!!! When you love someone you're not going to let go until the last possible moment. So, if anything we may wait a little longer than we probably should. There are always "what if's" that haunt us afterward, but we wouldn't do it "if it wasn't the right thing, or the right time." I hope you can find comfort in knowing that when she left you, God restored her to perfect health, and she needs no protection now. She's in a place where lions lay with lambs. (And I'm sure, the sheepies are still trying to herd both!) |
Im so sorry |
Thank you all so very very much. I hope you guys know how much I truley appreciate your kind words. We planted a tree in her honor.
Thanks again everyone |
I don't come here often but I wanted to say that I know you did the very best for your girl. She knows it, too.
A hug for you. |
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of sweet Hershey. I am sure she knew how much you loved her and how much she meant to you.
Tears, |
I am so very sorry for your loss I was in your shoes a few short months ago. I thought I would never stop crying and my heart would never stop hurting, But it does get better, time takes time. Soon you will be able to remember your baby, without tears, but with great joy and smiles. You are doing the normal grieving now, and we all grieve differently, but as time goes on, you will keep Hershey in a very special part of your heart. Again ,I am so very sorry. |
Hey Darcy...that is a very comforting thought. Jean in the middle of all our lost furbabies. So sorry for the loss of Hershey. |
Hi,
I shed tears when I read your post. Hershey is now free from pain but what a battle she fought previously. She was special. My favorite poem when dealing with loss is called Please Let Me Go and you may find some comfort reading it as I did when I said farewell to Shaggy and now preparing for Blue's departure. I understand your grief and how we wish so much they could live forever. Hershey will, in your mind and forever in your heart. I'm so sorry for your loss. Marianne |
