Daisy in Indianapolis, IN

I just received word that a dog we planned to take in at the end of July must be surrendered this weekend. 8O The owner's father is terminally ill and she absolutely cannot keep Daisy any longer. Daisy is currently listed on Petfinder http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displa ... d=11000501

Daisy is spayed, HW-, current on vaccinations, housebroken and crate trained. She is a big girl, too rambunctious to be around small children. She has been living peacefully with a male OES, other than food guarding tendencies with him. She may be best as an only dog in her new home. There were also cats in her previous home. A securely fenced yard for Daisy would be necessary.

My home as well as all our foster homes are overcrowded already with more dogs waiting to be surrendered. If anyone can help out with Daisy for even a couple weeks, please let me know. If we can't take her in, her owner will euthanize her.

If anyone can help with Daisy, please PM me.

Thanks,

Glad to know that Daisy will be saved.

Though, frankly, he shoulda ditched the new wife and not the dog.....
Being part of the "Driving Miss Daisy" mission...and knowing what a great gal she is....how is she doing?
All reports I'm getting back from her foster home are great. Her foster mom was quite surprised that she was so "normal". By that I mean most rescues do have some baggage. Daisy was from a loving home where circumstances made it impossible to keep her, not because she did anything wrong. Please don't judge this owner (or anyone who surrenders a dog) for doing what was best for their pet!

Daisy was listed on Petfinder for a long time with few inquiries just because people see her as an "older" dog! She'll just turn 7 this month but is as active as a puppy. She's a big girl that could use some manners training. She's very strong, too. People that want to adopt a female usually expect a smaller, less rowdy girl.

Mad Dog may have some additional info regarding Daisy. She still is looking for her forever home and is being fostered in Columbus, Wisconsin.
