We went to the dog park for our almost daily long walks and at the back there is this...um valley...um hole in the ground, oh heck, its just a BIG mud pit. Its there to catch the runoff from a river thats nearby. It did its job with all the rain we've had, it was nearly full. Its also got a pump at one end to pump the water back into the river. Anyway its right next to a park and there is a lot of wild life in the area. I, so far have done a great job of keeping the dogs out of the mud pit. They love to run down the side and then back up again and back down etc. So we are walking down this one gravel path with the pit on one side and the railroad tracks and the park on the other. I see two dear on the other side of the railroad tracks. Uh oh. The dogs haven't seen them...yet. I'm really workin hard to keep it that way. Talking to them and turn around and walking really fast to get them away from there. This really stupid man is trying to take a picture of the dear and walking towards them. Oh duh, they are going to run away. Yep thats right..one darts right in front of us. The chase is on...The dear runs down into the mud pit with Gar on its heels, across the bottom with its endless puddles and mud and as I've said this "hole" is big, they are finally to the other side and I'm yelling and whistleing and not being heard. Heading up the other side and finally Gar gives up the chase. He comes running back...covered in mud and lookin mighty proud of himself. |

You should feel lucky it lasted a day.
Doesn't last more than a few minutes here and they're into something. |
I don't mean to laugh......
I can soooo picture it. |
Okay I was nodding my head knowingly while reading your post.
I think my sheepie boys have been reading the same "How to get as dirty as possible book" as your Gar. That and Murphy's Law was at it again! Thanks for the chuckle! Marianne |
