A little throwing-up normal?

My 7 month/80lb. pup has been having two or three episodes of throwing up every week, usually grass/plant matter, or unidentifiable food-like remains. Once he threw up a small plastic bottle cap. He seems fine otherwise, doesn't affect his energy or eating a few hours later. Is it time for a vet visit? How concerned should I be?

Is this normal for pups his age, as they inevitably will eat a bunch of plants or spoiled food/garbage during the day, either when they are unsupervised in the yard, or during walks and off-leash at the dog park?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

At 8 months, you still have to watch them like puppies so they don't actually eat stuff that they shouldn't. All that throwing up isn't good for him and if he's puking up actual debris, the problem isn't medical, it's what he's getting into. Keep an eye on him or keep him confined for a week and see if the throwing up stops.
I agree with Jill. It sounds like he's eating things he shouldn't be eating.

Even at 4 years old we STILL have to watch them closely! 8O
Two of mine like to eat grass and I stop them each time they try.
About 3 years ago, Emma got a bite of a bad mushroom while grazing
and it made her very sick... she had an overnight stay with the vet.

You might also try a wire muzzle (under supervision) if he won't
stop munching on things he shouldn't.
my 2 are awful there is a plant in the garden that they head for and eat, unless we get there first. The tortoise also eats this plant dunno what it is....

Trash cans with lids - in every room. Do it now before you learn the hard and expensive way. Bailey wound up at the emergency vet when he was a year old, and even though he managed to eventually throw up what he had eaten and didn't need surgery, it still wasn't cheap.

I've been begging my husband to gate off his garden since Bailey was a puppy (he's now 3). Every now and then Bailey tries to go shopping in the garden. Most of the time he eats stuff that agrees with him - he loves strawberries. But the other day he pulled up a spicy white radish and he didn't keep that down for long!

Its not inevitable. If they aren't somewhere safe they should be supervised.
