* 1.5 lbs chicken wings * flour for coating * SAUCE * 3T soy sauce * 3T water * 1C sugar * 1/2C white vinegar * 1/2t garlic powder * 1t salt Dip wings in flour generously. Lay on baking sheet and put in fridge for at least an hour. Set oven to 375 Take wings out and spray each side with PAM. A must step for them to taste fried and not stick to the baking pan you hopefully lined with foil. Bake for 30 min. Meantime, combine soy sauce, water, sugar, vinegar, garlic powder and salt. note: I did put in saucepan, boiled to thicken it up but not necessary. Take wings out after 30 min and baste with sauce. Put in oven for 20-30 more minutes, basting twice. I like to broil the wings the last 2 minutes to give it a nice crispy taste. I served with rice. Now the rice is something most americans I know don't like. It's either something you had growing up or just an acquired taste. I LOVE it soooooo much. You serve it to accompany a spicy dish. It's not a stand alone. For the record, Mr. J isn't a fan of this. My girl friends are though. * 14 oz can lite sweetened coconut milk * ~1 1/4Cs water * 1t sugar * pinch salt * 1.5C uncooked jasmine rice * 1/4-1/3C almond accents (seasoned almonds in package next to salad section) In saucepan, combine rice, coconut milk, water, sugar & salt. Basically the liquids should reach the middle of the whites on your finger nail (but not reaching your cuticle). This is at least how I was raised to always know how much water to put in rice for it to always come out right. Bring to boil then simmer covered for 20 min. You cook until rice is tender. Then mix in almonds. My friends ALWAYS screw it up when they try to do it, so I wasn't sure if I should post it. I tried to be more specific than normal to how to make this. The coconut milk makes the rice finicky. |

First of all your avatar is a riot The little one......isn't so tiny any more. He's a chunky, round faced jolly elf. Cute way to note his age.......I just hope it washes off.......tatooed for life with "5 months" on his belly.
Recipe looks yummy.........especially the rice. Jasmine rice and coconut, what's not to love?.....the almonds. I was going to ask if they were toasted, but I reread the recipe.....better yet, let someone else toast them! Will give this a whirl, but may change wings to breast tenders. |
Joah would you like to come and live with me and you can bring that sweet little fellow of yours with you. |
I wouldn't call this turkeyball jolly. He's more of a grinch ...and even they have an occasional smile. Hopefully he goes jolly by the time Christmas rolls around. I've warned him about getting coal in his stocking.
It's washable. In fact, it came off on my hand right after the pic. WRITING it on a squiggly baby that's ticklish was a task! jean wrote: Joah would you like to come and live with me and you can bring that sweet little fellow of yours with you.
Is there a job opening there? |
This sounds good, like Susan I would use tenders since I'm not a wing fan. And here's a stupid question: does coconut milk taste or smell like coconut? I can't abide that stuff |
yes and yes
You wouldn't like the rice even though the taste is VERY subtle. |
