Invisible Fencing Advice please help.

Just a few questions. I am having trouble with Beau since we got the new pup. He wants to run off the property now. I turn my back for two minutes to turn on the garden hose and off he goes into the neighbors yard taking Sophie with him. So I have been thinking about fencing. I am not crazy about invisible fencing and the thought of shocking the dogs BUT I have been looking into some of the invisible fences and saw this one https://cumberlandvalley.invisiblefence.com
It says that they help train the dogs to stay in the barrier and that the collar gives a warning sound. Now I dont even know if I trust that. Can you tell me 1 If you have a fence like this and would recommend it. 2. Does it really work or not. Do you like it.??? What would you do????? Also Hubby is saying "I hope it is worth the money" Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I know what you're feeling...when we bought a house in the mountains on over an acre there was no way to fence it except for the invisible...the ground is like drilling into rocks and it would have been too difficult not to mention ruin the scenery. My husband convinced me to try it as I wanted Rosie to be off the lease and running..she needs to run like crazy at least once a week. They did help me train her...it took less than a week of walking on a lease and when hearing the beep you teach them "back". You leave the flags up for awhile and she stayed back. We have it on a low setting and only once has she broke through (another dog walking by)...she hasn't broke through since and there's been people, dogs, bunnies, etc...that she wanted to go after. They have to make it circle around...I wished it wasn't at the end of the driveway...I have to worry about the UPS truck hitting her or anyone else pulling in the driveway...she runs up to a moving vehicle and she is so small a truck won't see her. It really works well and they don't get shocked...when she hears the beep she backs away and you can tell where it is by the way she runs. We have neighbors with two bassett hounds that do well with it also. If your dogs are fairly responsive to training and intelligent it won't take long to train them. The only down turn is any other animal can enter your yard..I never just leave Rosie out without me being nearby...we have wildlife around from time to time...just the other day a bobcat was starring me down! I haven't seen a bear yet but have been told to be on the "lookout" for one. I figured Rosie will smell it from a mile away.
We're out with them at all times too. He is just so sneaky now since the puppy came along. I turn my back for two seconds to pull weeds or fix the hose or whatever and he sneaks off with the puppy in tow. Whats funny is our GSD will just lay on the deck and look at me as if to say see I'm the good one. I wish she would live up to her "working" reputation and herd those two sneakers. Beauford is trainable but very stubborn it takes a few times before things sink in.........like oh is that what you want me to do??

Do you keep the collar on or do put it on only for outside use? We also live up a long lane that we share with one other neighbor. Does driving over the fencing weaken it? How long have you had it and have you ever had to replace or fix anything.
As for the collar, I take it off at night when she's sleeping...they say it won't hurt her but I just thinks it's more comfortable...if I took it off during the day I would forget to put it back on. The funny thing is many mornings I have woken up sleepy and forgotten to put it on...she still knows the line and doesn't cross it...of course this is after a year and she's used to staying in her area. That's what convinced me she wouldn't get hurt by it. Running over it doesn't hurt...the company buried it...we have a gravel driveway. We have never had problems...my husband mows over it and we have it close to the mountain stream but again it's buried. We did keep a few flags in to remind us where so we wouldn't dig it up. They send you a new receiver every 3 months for the collar. I am in the process of possibly getting a rescue OES...I will order a new collar and spend time training her as well. My tibetan terrier is far more willful at choosing IF she wants to do what I want her to do..she's very smart, very trainable just not always in agreement...my former OES were easier to train and do what I wanted them to do. Rosie likes to please us, just there are times she turns her back on us.
If you do some searches here on the forum you can read other threads about the Invisible Fence. As part of the package, they will come out and train you how to train the dog. It works great for us. I only put the collar on when they go outside because keeping it on constantly will cause mats. Really depends on your household. (Not sure if you have kids that accidentally will let the dog out.)

Driving over the fence will not weaken it. We've actually cut the wire more than a few times doing construction/landscaping work here and we've repaired it ourselves.
Thank you for all your information. Monday we are having someone come out and give us the details and pricing etc. I really appreciate the information.
