I am new to this forum and was very amused when I read someone's post about their OES burping. I grew up with an OES (Barney) and another (Tobey) and have been in love with the breed ever since. Last year for Christmas, my fiance surprised me with a little bundle of joy and he was later named Reginald Oswald Merriweather (Luke thought a string of old "British" names would be funny). So here we are and I am so thankful to be able to read posts on behavior and grooming. It has been reassuring to see some similar issues and to know that I am not doing TOO bad at being an OES mom! Thanks again! Kristy, Reggie and Luke |

Welcome from Minnesota (near Mankato).
Your Reggie looks adorable! I love the picture of he and your cat on the couch. I hope you are not under water down there. |
Welcome!! |
Hi and welcome to the community! |
Des Moines was hit pretty hard, especially downtown, but Reggie and I took a walk to check out some of the flooding by our house. I must say, we are very fortunate NOT to have been directly effected by the flood. However, the only levee to break in Des Moines, was naturally, 8 blocks from our house. There were many other towns in Iowa who hadn't had the city planning and levees and were certainly hit and hit harder than Des Moines. My sister is a dispatcher for Iowa City, which is located 30 miles south of Cedar Rapids, which is still under several feet of water.
Flooding is something you have to deal with in the Midwest it seems. I was pretty impressed with the response around our neighborhood to help others, there was even an individual who was taking pets from the neighborhood for shelter. Pretty awesome. Thanks for asking and the welcomes! PS got sheep, I am from NW Iowa (Okoboji/Spirit Lake) and know Mankato well! |

Welcome!!
Okoboji........LOVE IT!!! My husband and I lived in Arnolds Park and Spriit Lake, right accross the road from Center lake back in 2003-2004. We go back every year for 2 to 3 weeks...and will be headed there end of July into August......can't wait!! In fact....seems like every year, we see a family on West Lake with a sheepie or two aboard the boat.....maybe that's you?? |

Welcome to the forum and G'day from us in the land downunder |
Hello and welcome from northeastern Pennsylvania |
Welcome, Kristy, Luke and Reggie, from eastern PA. I love the picture of Reggie cuddling with Luke, and that big smile on Luke's face - pure bliss!
Stay dry and safe! |
My best friend and her husband are from Spencer, Ia.
Mary loves the lakes area and talks about it all the time! I just tease her that Ia is so hard up for lakes that they have to really get excited about their one and only lake tourist area! |
Hello again,
Dawn, you are not the first Minnesotan to make that remark about the lakes! I worked with a gal from St. Cloud and we went back and forth giving each other a hard time. At least we didn't elect Ventura for governor! My mom actually lives and works in Spencer at the hospital, that's were my family stakes their claim now. It such a small world! Tdelanoit, I WISH the sheepie was us, but I don't get up to the lakes much any more in the summer. HOWEVER, the doctor my mom works for has a couple sheepies and LOVES the breed. You may be seeing them! So strange that people know where Okoboji, Iowa is! It's so surreal. Anywhos, thanks so much to everyone for the welcomes and hellos! Des Moines is back to normal and now Iowa is just picking up the pieces and avoiding flooding in the SE corner. Have a great weekend! |
